Departure announcement: Callum Macdonald joins Tranmere

Not liking that one at all, there was a player there that could have been developed. Couldn't have done much more performance wise for us, not sure what Critchley didn't like about him.

I thought he looked a decent player. Not surprised he’s impressing in L2 and good luck to him.

Whatever his quality, we can't keep four left backs when your squad numbers are limited and we need to strengthen in other areas. I think he's a good player, but we have better imo. If you're going to develop a young player in that position, develop Mitchell instead.
Always difficult to let decent players leave, but this is the right call.

I thought he was a decent player but not better than what we already have.
We didn’t ‘ already have’ Critchley signed Garbutt and Mitchell when Macdonald was already here. Like Thorniley he just wasn’t one of his little pals, so didn’t get a look in.

Garbutt i agree with, but in my opinion Macdonald gives much more going forward than Husband and defends better than Mitchell.
I think he looked good in patches, but on the whole the teams he played in were poor. Also, we were very right side dominant last year so it always made him look decent when he played as we actually had some sort of threat down the left for a change.

Did a job, but we need better and I certainly think we have that now.

It's hardly his fault the team was poor. Maybe he was good in patches because err ....he's good...in patches.
Husband gets dogs on here from some people, maybe it's better being average in a decent team ?

I thought he looked tidy when he was on, pretty quick too, even with ball at feet. Good luck to the lad, it won't be the last we hear from him with decent coaching.

I’m not saying it’s his fault the team was poor - he looked ok in a poor team, nothing more than that.
He wouldn’t add anything to the current squad, therefore no reason to keep him. All in my opinion of course.

..'already have NOW' is perhaps what I should have said.
As for Thorniley I think the reason he hasn't featured much is because he is doesn't look as solid as the other three CH's.

Accept your correction 😁 Thorniley hasn’t featured because as I said Critchley doesn’t fancy him. The games against Brighton and Wigan he played quite well, not enough to dislodge Ballard or Ekpiteta, but too good to lose. He is another on his way if Critchley can get rid.

The nice thing here is that the player says he loves it at Tranmere and at the end of the day no club has a hold on any player, I still don't think he would have been first team with us and so we wish him well for his future.
