Critchley stick or twist ?

Can he deliver what we want ? He came here with a stellar CV at youth level but that is significantly lower than where we are at. The Pre season friendlies were promising and encouraging and Simon Sadler has backed him with a lot of money. Almost half a season gone and we're hardly tearing up any trees. Do you stick or twist ?

What a load of tosh!! Why do you think that we bring in 17 new players and become Barcelona? We cannot win every week........but the football ethics are better than anything I have seen in the last three years!

Have a look through the stats amd highlights,we are so close to being a promotion favourite.

Expectation is too high amongst us - but what we see now is 500% better than Grayson!!

Thank you Simon Sadler

No better than Graysons league position though.

I would give him till the end of next season. We are playing some excellent passing football, but were struggling in the final third. Sort this and we will be in for an exciting season next season.

Really ?

The football isnt great at the moment ...we dont score enough or create enough chances and shots on target. He has to have some time but he needs to get it right and hit the ground running next season. If we start like we did this one I would reluctantly let him go after the first 10-12 games. Im very hopeful he will turn it around...I would like to be more certain of it than I actually am.

FFS, how many times? I dread a draw or loss on here. Presumably message boards are lighting up the world over tonight reviewing the capability of managers mid table and below-sack em all!
Yep Critch is clearly wank, drawing away to a team in second and only getting 4 points out of 6 from them.
There are more cogent arguments above than I can be arsed to make so I’ll just go for a simple KEEP.
Dry January is getting tougher by the post

Stick, but time will tell us more and I hope it tells us that we will be considerably higher than our present position of 14th.

100% stick..I was doubting him earlier in the season when he insisted with 4-3-3 every game but he has won me over...The football is so much better than last season...I can only remember us playing well in 2 + 1/2 games last season...Southend away 1st half, Pboro & Fwood at home.

Stick, just needs to sort out the lack of goals problem, whether that be shop on sight, or bring in another striker. Also needs to rethink his subs strategy.

Stick for me,you can’t develop a team in just a short time, the pieces don’t come available at once let alone getting them to gel and play the way you want,I’m sure it was a 2 year plan and I’m happy to see where we are in 12 months time.

Stick can't see the point in getting rid anyway but he needs to find a way to score more goals third lowest scorers in the league doesn't bode well for next season.

I really don’t get these threads. Just give the bloke a chance ffs. He needs a minimum of the whole of next season with several productive transfer windows. Also I believe we would be doing so much better if the fans were behind the players at the games.

Stick. He needs at least another 12-18 months. There's still a lot of work to be done though. We are 3 or 4 players short of where we need to be. Make that 5 or 6 when the loanees return at the end of the season. This is a massive work in progress.

On the pitch I think we look a little soft, toothless and disjointed. It looks like hard work to get victories and that shows with the fact that we haven't beaten a side by more than one goal all season.

Simon has said NC is our man. So we need to trust him and back him with that decision. The last thing we want to be is one of those clubs that sacks their manager every 6 months. Then when a new man comes in he wants his own players. That's a vicious cycle and leads to large wasted amounts of money.

Give Critch time just like Sadler has asked for. This team is some way off a promotion winning side yet. But we need to trust the process. It's going to be a frustrating season. Maybe even a frustrating 12 months but I trust that all involved at the club will get it right in the end. Everybody is pulling in the same direction now. Well, except maybe the supporters.

We have been excellent since October and have matched / beaten the top 5 teams in the league, so I’d suggest our league position doesn’t reflect our potential.

How we fare now without CJ, Keshi etc will tell a lot.

You don' have to read them and I haven't given my view either .

There was always going to be teething pains considering its his first season in senior football, it is probably perfect timing in a way considering we haven't been able to attend.

We'll all be there for next year when the training wheels are off and we dominate League One with our "heavy metal football" (Klopp quote)

100% stick. Choose a coach like Critchley who has the skills to make it as a manager
Give him time, support and remove the pressure and watch him flourish.
We’ve had our fill of cheap, low quality managers and those of limited intellect too and saw a poor return. This guy has excellent coaching credentials and is highly respected. Why not give it a few years to overhaul our academy; scout and coach youngsters with potential and see where it takes us?
We are still only a couple of wins off the play offs so no worse than last few seasons but at least we can see green shoots.

I just don’t get the panic of some of you.

Needs more time to settle, also not all players are going to fit so will lose some of the ones he has brought in and replace with others, just as with all clubs do,it was a bit harder for him as he basicly had to bring in a whole new squad ,and it was always going to take time for them and him to gel ,keep the faith ,building for the future

In reality he's had half a season from scratch as a manager.
I was one who wasn't entirely happy after the first few games, but he's gradually getting the team playing good football
He'll do for me, he's getting the players going in the right direction.
We just need a good goal scorer and the results will come.

Stick, no point in dropping a coach part way through a season when we're having a good cup run, and just drew with one of the best teams in the division.

Just to address this wonderful passing football some seem to think we play
Watching sky yesterday and the reporter (can't remember who it was)
Said that he's witnessed two teams with completely different approaches
Hull played patient passing football whilst we lumped it at every opportunity to madine
As my broadband is crap up here I couldn't watch ifollow,
But was he correct?
Incidentally we have to stick with critchley this season but we also have to improve a lot to be anywhere near top six this season or next

Right, to those that attack the post as being negative, you didn't have to post on the thread did you ? It isn't being negative to court the general consensus of opinion on here as to how people think given a specific question, or is it ? My own thoughts are that he is doing ok for his first managerial role but his erratic and mostly ' late in the game ' substitutions concern me as does his continued selection of Kaikai who has been nothing but a passenger for the last 6 games or so. I want him to succeed and I hope that he will.

Stick, but we need real players out wide, a ball playing midfielder, and forward with pace to burn, for me next season will be the test. This season i think we will finish around 8-10th.

Don’t fall into the trap of feeling the need to defend yourself and your right to voice your opinion. We are all supporters who care about success 👍 If people don’t get the devils advocate bit of being a devils advocate, that’s their problem!

Nice one Clappers. After posting on here for 20 years, I'm still surprised that I let them bother me to be honest.

Stick; ask again at the end of next season...

STICK
No doubt at all.
Needs till summer 2022 at least.
We maybe in the championship by then, when other clubs may want him!

I think most people are prepared to give him time . It’s the knee jerk reactions that come straight after crap results and performances that seem to bring out the sack him opinions.

Obviously it's stick at the moment but we can't be finishing 14th. Needs to be real signs we are ending the season well between now and May.
So far though, we are getting what we expected. A promising manager who is inexperienced and learning on the job.

Definitely stick. A manager needs time, especially an inexperienced one. And by that I'm meaning at least two full seasons.
Our transfers have been hit and miss, but the positives are that we have improved massively in defence, Ekpiteta has improved, and there have been little glimpses of what we could be capable of. I'm thinking the goal against Portsmouth, the third goal against Hull at home, the second against WBA. All three were fit to grace the PL imo. These things give me hope that Critchley knows what he's doing and with additions we would have a very capable squad and management team. It would be madness to think of changing now, even if you didn't support his appointment in the first place.
