Tikaboo son. Fantastic signing for us. Plays almost every minute of every game and looks a true athlete. He is now tracking back aswell as using his greyhound style pace to worry teams to death. Teams putting 2, 3 and even 4 men on him and yet he still has 5 goals and 3 assists in addition to winning corners and free kicks in dangerous positions. If he stays fit and keeps this workrate up then this guy is worth big money and will be on all the Championship clubs' radar.

I cannot believe the stick he has had on here..apparently he cant cross, he cant score and he has no football brain. If only we could utilise him a bit more and stop knocking goal kicks and clearances up in the air for him to win headers. His pace is electric and surely the ball should be at his feet. Make no mistake CJ has a big future and we are very lucky to have him.

100% agree, from game one of pre-season he looked a real threat and scared the begeebies out of Everton and Liverpool defences. He will definately now be on the radar of Championship teams as pace and goals are worth a lot of money.
I think we all love the idea of rough gems from the lower leagues and so far the scouting team (who have taken a lot of stick on here too) have found 5 or 6 crackers for not a massive amount of money.
If over time we can also bring a couple of our own through the academy then that will be more icing.

I agree we are lucky to have him I just wonder if maybe the first sentence in your second paragraph is what he has been guilty of in the past and why he is not yet playing at a higher level . But he will get better with NC guidance

You'd think he's most peoples fav player.

There are flaws to his game (like any player) but I can only see him getting better and better, he is only 25 so we should have him during his peak, I imagine by then we'll also be a Championship club so perfect timing really!

Another great signing, and another lad alongside Ekpiteta who has stepped up to a higher division and is doing amazing.

Col Greenall just wanted him to do the old fashioned "knock it beyond the full back and beat him over a sprint to it" job. And he would of course.

David White used to do it a lot at Man City. Fast as hell, couldn't actually beat players for skill though.

I've no problem in admitting I was a critic and on one particular point I still am. He needs to take more care with his final ball or cross. But his positives now far outweigh his negatives. His pace not only is a massive threat to the opposition it's also a massive help to us as a defence too. Last night late on we were coming under more and more pressure and he picked the ball up halfway in our own half and just went down the wing and winning a corner. It certainly made me relax more and no doubt our defence too.

Agreed 20s and once he improves on his final ball and cross he will be an outstanding player!

We had a little bloke upfront a few years ago , maybe around the first Championship years, who was very fast. Didn't stay long, think he got a bad injury and it finished him with us. But I remember watching him over 10-20 yard sprints and making up loads of ground. Wish I could remember his name.

If Ivan Tony is worth £10m, CJ surely has to be looking at the 3/4 mil mark... or am I being silly?

After watching Bright Osayi-Samual vs Stoke last night, I know who I think between him & CJ would currently be worth several millions!!

CJ does needs to improve. If he had consistent higher quality of controling the ball, crossing and shooting he would already be playing at a higher level

One things people overlook is the impact he has on the structure of the opposition defence. We often see opposing teams throwing two or even three players to close him down leaving gaps through the middle or down the other wing.

Are you thinking of Craig Sutherland mate ?

Scottish guy who had played in the States and was rapid . . . only saw him once away at Coventry 2012

I dunno. But Toney is scoring goals regularly a level higher. 16 in 19 league games. He's worth more than 10m now.
correct. Toney is a down the middle out and out striker. Ridiculous to compare Hamilton with him. Toney is following a similar path to Watkins and if he maintains his current standards then the PL clubs are come looking with offers way beyond 10 mil. That's if Brentford don't make it to the PL.

I thought this was a really good point by Colin Greenall.Get the ball out of feet and he will do anyone for pace.I think he is so quick and eager to get going on a run that the ball gets stuck between his feet quite a bit.I think less touches when he’s accelerating away would really benefit him in that sense

we often forget he is playing on the opposite side so naturally he will tend to cut in onto his stronger foot and get a shot away but the times he does get at his man and gets to the byline and he’s on his weaker foot he wants to cut it back to the penalty spot because he doesn’t trust his right foot to get the height on his cross. He actually did float one in last night from the right which we haven’t seen him do much.

I also liked the idea Garbutt was trying in the first half, ball over the top and CJ went through the middle on goal.Left foot like Garbutt and the pace of CJ let’s use it more to get in behind.

I still think he has a way to go in his decision making and final ball. however, you can see him improving week on week, and if he can continue to add goals like last night his value will soar. Perhaps Critchley is giving him the coaching he has been missing previously. Whatever is happening long may it continue. He is leaving Kaikai behind, in his development

That would indeed be the icing. Imagine the buzz one of our own would get running out in front of a, full house at B. R.

Are you thinking of Hameur Bouazza? ...or maybe Craig Sutherland?

One thing we must admit though is that, with calmer finishing, he would be the Pools highest scorer.
He really has missed quite a few 'reasonable' chances.
If he improves on that, he will be worth £10M

Never mind Championship Clubs' radar. I'm hoping that next season he will be playing in a Championship team - ours.

(appols to Hazi, who beat me to it)

After seeing him in the flesh (as they say) against Swindon I had a bet on him to be the division highest scorer.
His pace from pitchside is mind-boggling.

Stephen McPhee I assume - good player but injury finished his career.

I think its a tactic to cut back to the penalty spot. We've scored a few this season (Kai Kai/Keshi) by doing this and I noticed last couple of games one of our players always makes a run to that position when CJ goes on the outside - Kai Kai could have scored from one on Saturday if he hadn't slipped.

CJ was a great peace of business by the club to spot him and get him for a relatively small fee, how much do we think he is worth now (with the January window almost on us) of course we shouldn’t sell but wouldn’t surprise me if some other clubs haven’t noticed him. And how much could he be worth if he keeps playing and improving. Well done SS/ NC and all involved.

Was it Billy Clarke I remember him being quick and getting injured

I think CJ has a bit more pace than either. Don't think I've seen a player for us as quick.
Probably yeah.

It's not a criticism but I keep saying to the tele, "cut inside. get into the box, draw the foul, get a penalty"
There's plenty of penalties there for him. Just needs to be a bit cuter. The PL players certainly know how to do it.
It's called cheating. 😀

If he continues to score goals, gets good crosses in and tracks back like he did last night, the likes of Pep Guardiola will be looking.
