Bury: Bringing football back

There but the grace of Sadler, that could easily have been us.

There was serious discussion of a Phoenix club. Thank goodness it never came to that.

Good luck to them and hopefully the impasse with Steve Dale can be resolved and the town can get behind a team again.

One of our former players manager there too.

Andy Welsh.
You could have relocated to the old nightclub on Fleetwood Road where Blackpool RUFC play, and been a Phoenix phoenix club. How ace would that have been in a puntastic way? 😎

I always hated the idea of a Phoenix Club largely because everyone had different ideas about what that should be and I can imagine it would have divided us, rather than reunited us. Why I was always against a fan owned club as well - look at FC United - it's become a cess pit of in-fighting.

The Bury fan base has split into two viciously warring factions... the Forever Bury supporters trust and those going to support AFC Bury. Social media is poisonous.

With Dale keeping the original club alive but comatose for as long as he wants, many fans are beginning to feel the despair that the original club will never come back while the Phoenix club will always be a minor interest and support will fall off rather than grow.

The key to it all is Gigg Lane. If that can be wrested away from Dale and either club played there then the rebuilding would have a much greater chance of success.
