A little Worried

Please don’t throw abuse at me , but
little worried here , certain players have left , seems to be the big earners at the club , Fonz latest to leave
I don’t mind kids , it’s the future , but you have to have experience as well , especially in lower leagues
are pool wage saving here , and putting all our hope on the youngsters

think it’s because maybe I have never seen this before at pool

It is a very dramatic exodus. I think we all said we needed a clear out to transform into a promotion winning squad, I didn't expect it all to happen in one window 😂

As you said, we are not used to behaving in such a manner. There is still most of the transfer window to go, I wouldn't worry until the deadline to make signings has ended. We can pass a fair judgement on the squad then!

I know the season ended too soon, but I think promotion last season was possibly a step too far.
The collection of players we had never really over achieved, and we were fully reliant on our loan rangers to pull us out the mire at times.
Keeping hold of all our old bunch of players would probably result in another mid table obscurity in my eyes.

A new broom sweeps clean 👍

We certainly are wage cutting, although I believe it’s necessary with the introduction of a salary cap coming in this season - Rather than the club being tight

I’m thinking the same Manc. And whilst Simon Sadler is a magnificent chairman the facts are that we didn’t have a net spend last summer, Bola went for over a million, and once Bright Samuel goes its doubtful we’ll have a net spend this year. Not a major problem for me personally but people have selective memory at times. No one knows if these lower league additions are the real deal but because their appears to be some sort of long term plan people buy into it. A real statement of intent would be to get KDH and Ronan on season long loans.

With all the money Saddler has invested on players and infrastructure believe me there has been a significant net spend already.

Think also , Neil is untested in this league , and wont be easy , and with a very young squad
have they the mentally to do well , the pressure on them , then again , some thrive from the pressure dont they 🤷
would like to see couple experience add ons in the team or squad

some valid points above thou 😉👏

I don’t think the recruiting has yet stopped and l wouldn’t be surprised if a couple of experienced players are brought in together with a few Liverpool loanees.

We haven't signed a single "kid" everyone has been between 22 and 25? I know when I was 22, if you called me a kid I'd have been pissed off. Some of these guys have hundreds of games in professional football.

At the moment there are only 3 players left from the squad who played Southend in the Homecoming game:

Turton
Feeney (rumoured to be on his way out)
Virtue

That’s a summary of the turnover of players we’ve had under Simon Sadler.

Add to it the change of 2 managers, all coaching staff, Phil Horner and a new board, the club is unrecognisable within the space of 18 months.

It’s a massive gamble, but we should surely trust in the new manager and hierarchy?

This will take time, but we are now shaping a squad for the next 2-3 years who will all grow together and who ultimately want to play for an ambitious Blackpool FC

The squad reeked of mid or even lower table mediocrity and was a hangover from the Vermin days.
I am very pleased so far with this summers activity. I said at the end of the season that I felt there were very few in the squad that could not be replaced. Hopefully what we have brought in can be our new heroes - I cannot see them being worse than last season?

Also - all of the positions that the mb said needed attention back at the end of last season have been addressed too, and we still have loans to bring in.
Just feels for once like pre-season has been done properly and the manager knows what he wants. Doesn't guarantee success, but at least you are not sitting there scratching your head and saying "why have we not signed an attacking midfielder and do we really need 7 left backs?"

If you want a new culture it generally involves shipping out everyone associated with the old culture.having professionally experienced a change of ownership, I was one of the first of two to be ‘invited’ and paid off to leave having been there 12 years with not one performance related issue and the firm going from small fry non league to League One with all the guff about moving in a different direction etc etc. Effectively bringing in highly paid names from bigger firms and dispensing with the people that got them there.

I look at that firm now 8 years later and there is no one there from my time except the new owner and the business looks different but performs at the same level. The ‘big names’ all came and went very quickly.

Change for changes sake often has little effect. I do think total change at BFC has been needed due to the systemic issues at the club and that makes it much more likely all this change will yield success.

'Experience' isn't all it's cracked up to be. Some players in their 30's have played maybe 100 career league games at best - but because they've been on the books at a 'big' club / clubs they're supposed to be good to have around.

Some younger players have played 100/150 career league games by the time they're 20, in different leagues, albeit lower leagues and because they're younger they're inexperienced and therefore not as worthwhile ?

Give me a young player who's worked his way up through the leagues or resurrected their career after release from a 'big' club any day of the week.

The club needs to sign players with character as opposed to experience in my opinion and by the looks of it we've done that, and we've done that alongside bringing in some talented players too.

The same happened at my place of employment, a merger of two colleges, most of the old staff and management were gradually dispensed with, a new lot with new contracts were bought in, but they are still struggling.
