45% tax u turn

Very surprised.

I'm a firm believer that 40% of something is better than 45% of nothing.

Whatever your political opinion this is just weak leadership.

I wouldn't really be against this in normal circumstances. During the Labour government the rate was 40% until Gordon Brown put it up towards the end of this premiership. However, tax cuts must be costed.
But now is the wrong time to do this. It sends the wrong signal. And of course, this announcement and the way that it has been handled has created market chaos which will effect millions of us.

Agree, been managed appallingly. The principle just needed explaining and managing better - but to U-turn is a massive own goal.

Kwarteng is one of the most arrogant individuals in politics and that is saying something. Truss left him high and dry yesterday saying this had been his call. He will be reshuffled soon in an attempt to save her. Bear in mind also, the only reason she is there is because a hatchet job was done on Mordaunt. What a shower.

Watched the bumbling interview on BBC

KK must have said the ' it was becoming an unnecessary distraction in an otherwise strong package of measures ' 20x over

God helps us with him at the helm
KK still has a fundamental problem to address.

The unfunded tax cuts that worried the markets were £45 billion. This change of policy amounts to £2 billion. The £ did reasonably well off the back of the U turn but at some point the markets are going to be asking - how and when are you going to be able to repay the other £43 billion?

That issue hasn’t gone away.

I reckon Simon Sadler will be cancelling the latest Club lounge. That £5k bonus heading to the rich of Blackpool would have been very helpful in our push for investment.
