2 points dropped or a point gained?

Going into this I'd have said 2 points dropped if we didn't win but having watched the whole 90 minutes I would say a point gained.
A few thoughts...
* Crewe won the tactical battle for most of the 90 minutes, and in particular were well on top of us in the first 30 and the last 30. Critch is still learning in this respect
* Crewe's subs worked, ours didn't - great to see CJ back but when Simms went off it went t*its up for us, CJ almost gave a goal away by completely leaving his man unmarked in the box from the corner and going forward it felt like he was lacking in match sharpness (miscontroling when it a great position and generally not anticipating the flow of the play etc). I think Critch should have brought Kenny on when the midfield started to lose control midway through the second half
* Crewe equaliser - Maxwell beaten at the near post yet again! I'm not a fan of his and he is costing us points (remember Ipswich's first goal?)
* Virtue had a great game in the centre of the park and was deservedly (our) mom
* How much are Garbutt's corners worth? (remember Charlie's were worth £10 million alone)
* Taking off our biased hats, Crewe were well worthy of a point

Because of their high intensity, fast high-press, we couldn’t play our normal controlled passing game. I’ll give credit to Crewe. We hung in there for large parts of the match. Obviously I’d rather we’d sneaked a win, but we’re not bloody City and can’t expect to win every match.
Yes, it looks like we’re mid-table, but all 24 LG1 teams played tonight. Let’s see where we are when the games in hand play out. That’s when we can rise quickly through the top half - when hardly anyone else is playing.

Definitely a hard earned point
As mentioned Crewe aren’t mugs and have had some good results.
Sometimes expectations get too high and people think we should be beating everybody but football doesn’t work like that. Must admit I thought our winning mentality would have got us through tonight but it was a hard match so 1 point is more than welcome under the circumstances.
15 points behind second placed Hull with 5 games in hand so all to play for.
Roll on Saturday and back to winning ways 👍

A point gained and our momentum maintained.
I can understand making substitutions because we were looking a little tired, but I was surprised Simms was one of the players taken off.
Although Crewe deserved at least a point, their goal was arguably off side and/or hand ball.

Definitely point gained because Crewe are a decent side with some possibly future premier league players and we are still in the play off contention so it’s not the end of the world 👍🏻

Deffo 1 point gained .

Sorry you lost me when you said Maxwell is costing us points.

Good post and I agree with most of this but Virtue wasnt my man of the match (I thought it was clearly Ward)...I would have put Dougall on for Virtue when he was blowing...I thought Maxwell made a couple of decent saves and though he will be disappointed with their goal it would have been a great save...Garbutt was much much better and his delivery is getting better all the time...need to keep him next season

Crewe were the slightly better side overall tonight. It also highlighted that we're not ready for promotion this season IMO. Next season I really fancy our chances with a couple of good additions.

Point gained.

Crewe have given us two hard games, both finishing with honours even. There were periods last night when they passed the ball between them and we could get nowhere near them. We seemed to lack a bit of energy at times and the two disallowed goals for offside should have served as a warning. Otherwise' a point gained with the game just lacking a pantomime horse when the linesman was being substituted and no fourth official being available.🙄

From the first pass we gave away they got on the front foot and took us a while to get into the game, thought they looked dangerous, still a bit
Miffed their goal looked well offside and hint of hand ball, start again Saturday utp!!!

Definitely a point gained. Anyone else slightly stunned when they scored? Forgotten what it's like to concede. Compare that to the early part of the season. Maxwell? Think he was beaten because their lad got his shot away early. Doesn't fill me with confidence when we're defending set pieces. Never used to leave his line now flapping at crosses last few games.

It’s a decent point. I was wary of this one as I’ve seen Crewe a few times this season and they played very well (especially against accy) and got a feeling a lot on here were underestimating them. Even an in form Sunderland only managed to snatch a point at the death on Tuesday so no surprise they are still in the hunt for a play off place. Anyway move on to Saturday where hopefully back to winning ways but again not taking anything for granted we will beat Wimbledon.

Point gained, however an opportunity to gain 2 more lost. Should have kept KK and Simms on, that just threw us a different shape and the initiative to Crewe.

In the end we could and probably should have lost and that would have been our fault.

Two points dropped
At home against a team in the mix.
If we were really pushing for and worthy of a playoff place, these are the games we should be winning.
As it was, we were outplayed for long periods and Crewe will be disappointed they didn't test Max more, the amount of possession they had.
Let's be honest, which team looks more likely to mount a playoff challenge on last night's performance?
Don't get me wrong, rather have one than none and think we might be going in the right direction, but the table doesn't lie

i think it could have gone either way, Crewe turned our defence enough times to have really punished us, and they controlled the midfield for a good half of the match.

we had enough chances to have put the game to bed. there were several last ditch clearances and blocks. i think its two points dropped but could have been all three dropped, so have to take it no loss and move on to teh next game.
