Going to Oxford

When I lived in Oxford you never got any fans in the town centre, home or away. On match day you wouldn't have known there was a game on and they were in the Premier league. Got loads of American tourists.

I think it was Sunderland fans who travelled down this season and parked up in the carpark behind the end with no stand and got a full view of the match stood on top of a van 🤣

mmm...don't think they've ever been in Premier League.

Forgot about that end where all the cars park. Surely nothing to stop an open top tour of Oxford parking up there for a 90 minute break.
It was being used as a covid vaccination centre car park with stewards controlling it during the league game in March as you could see people milling about on ifollow.

We got our van bricked there and one of the lads who was with his mrs got butted by one of 'em. We got in the away end and there were just us lot. Then we heard in the distance Sea! Sea! Seasiders!
Before to long the end we were in was respectably filled. We lost 2-1. We gave away a penalty for their winner. Plenty of scuffles outside the ground.

Pompey fans took vans to the July play off games and stood on the top to watch the game.
Difference to now being that game was behind closed doors and this won’t be, so presumably entry to that car park will be controlled.

Once took a load of Blackpool fans down in a removal van for a Cup tie in the 80's-I seem to remember a Keith Mercer being the best player?

Nearly turned it over taking the roundabout at the M55 but somehow managed to get there and back-cops told me I was pushing it when we arrived.

They used to be such a decent bunch of old school fans when they played at the old Manor Ground. They built the new stadium in Blackbird Leys and attracted all the riff-raff.

1986. Oxford played QPR at the old Wembley in the old Milk Cup. I was there. My first visit to the national stadium. Had a soft spot for the U's ever since.

Remember travelling to Anfield in the (forlorn) hope of getting a ticket when we played there, failing and watching the game in a pub with a load of Scousers! Now that was a memorable afternoon!
