More effort needed

Looking back at recent games, the team putting the effort in have won. While the opposition are pressing and closing our players down, we are almost sleep walking through games. We're slow ponderous, forever looking for a back pass. These teams haven't been lucky, they got what their efforts deserve. When we were winning games everyone pressed, supported the man with the ball, passed and went for the return. It's not about quality of players or formations it's all down to effort, you get out what you put in. If the players are tired, why do we keep picking them especially ones who consistently under perform. I don't mind losing, it's the manner of the loss

If the season ended at home to Sunderland -

a) everyone would be applauding
b) optimism would be sky high
c) a bit of rest would have re-energised the players left for one last play-off 2/3 match push

in our hands but we need to get the grease off Em

That same lads have had to play Saturday-Tuesday every week for months. They're absolutely knackered.

It's no wonder that other teams that have more energy, they've not had the injuries or the scheduled that we've had.

Easy to say why do we keep picking the players who are tired, but who do we replace them with? Yates looked tired on Tuesday and again today, but who do we replace him with to rest him? Dougall is a diffrent type of player from Robson so can't rest him untill Stewart is back. We need more players back before we can rest the ones we have. Think it's unfair to say its lack of effort when we had midweek and weekends games every week since the middle of January with upto 9 players injured at a time on top of it. Its actually very impressive that we've been able to put the run together that we did under the circumstances.

The way we played the last two games they've been getting their rest in during the match so should be raring to go.
