European Super League Announcement

I've not read one person anywhere on social media in favour of this yet.
Expect Adrian Durham to make a case for it on Talksport tomorrow..Got to get those calls flooding in after all .

Let them break away. There are enough teams to take their place. Enough supporters who will go and watch and there will be more chance for home grown players to come through and play.

Gary Neville was spot on.

All this outrage is right, of course it is, but I honestly think it will be great for football. Let them sell their souls to the devil, it's all about money and supporters who support these teams from all around the globe because they have to support the best, irrespective of their roots, it's the vapid generation we live in. The real supporters of these chosen teams will be fuming but they rarely get to see their team play anyway because some mega rich person from another country will be the ones who can afford the tickets. Once they get over it they will be able to start again and be involved like they used to be prior to Sky and the Premier League.

How ironic if Sky Sports shit out on the rights for the restructured football league and also the new super league..... that would be hilarious.

Nah, fuck em, good riddance.

Seems that some aren't reading what they plan on doing..... as has been pointed out this is in protest at the Champions League, not domestic football.

It's being proposed to rival only the Champions League.

And you really believe it’s being suggested to just rival the Champions League & eventually breaking away from domestic leagues hasn’t been discussed? Wake up.

How can 6 teams play in the Premier league with a 300 million pound advantage before a ball has been kicked. There would be more integrity in WWE. Gary Neville hits the nail on the head and you have to love his passion. Met him once at Port Vale wher he had gone to watch his mate play for us but cant remenber who it was.

Well said Gary. Disgrace.

Let them go. Kick them from the PL and carry on
Yep, and every other domestic cup! Fuck em! Hope their fans disown the clubs and their stadiums left to rot.... when it all goes tits up in the super league - they’ll be grovelling to be let back in.
what a massive two fingers up to the genuine fans of these clubs and football fans in general. Utter disgrace, I feel extremely sad and annoyed the way football is going.

Can anybody do a link on here for Gary Neville talking about this because he was absolutely brilliant. 👏👏

Talking to a couple of reds, they’re adamant it’s a stalking horse to force Uefas hand over the Champions League format.
Still sits wrong for me

I turned over to see Neville's rant as I hadn't watched the United / Burnley match. Took me a couple of minutes to work out why he was so enraged. But he was phenomenal. How he managed to not drop an "F bomb" took some serious restraint.

Let them all go IMO and never let them back. Feel for their supporters. Tuesday night games in Moscow. Good luck with that.

Well, Gary Nev's gone up considerably in my book. Quite an achievement when I consider where he was about 20 minutes ago. Very well said.

Did someone say above that the rights to it are with something other than Sky? If that's correct then I suppose you could say he's hardly likely to be supporting it. But I do believe that's a genuine from the heart reaction, done for the right reasons, and I hope he gets a lot of influential support.

This could be a bit of a bluff from thoes clubs though. The president of Real Madrid, was consulted by Uefa during plans to reform the Champions League regarding Real and the other breakaway clubs and he isn't going to get what he wants. Thoes plans are being revealed tomorrow, so this could be one last attempt at getting his plans put through. Uefa have said that any club that joins this league will be barred from domestic competition and Fifa have apparently said that any player's in this league would be banned from playing for their country. Think this is a case of who blinks first, the clubs and they back down or Uefa and the clubs get what they want.

Unbelievable that these things should be sprung on us, I've only been saying for the last 10 years that this would happen.

Obvious.

What has not been however, is the plan for the domestic game. It should be planned for.

If the French and German clubs aren't getting involved it's a non starter, there's only three countries signed up, just weird posturing for a little more power.

No Bayern, Ajax, Porto or PSG, all bigger clubs than Chelsea, City, Tottenham and Arsenal.

A short step that will happen.

Surely the players themselves are going to play a massive part in what happens? If the majority of the worlds best players stand up and won't compete in this new league then who is really going to want to watch?

Right, so are they leaving the EFL or not? That statement implys they are but that’s not my understanding of it.
They want the best of both worlds. Firstly, to cream off all the European and World TV revenues, with no income to other associations, leagues or clubs and protecting a closed shop with no relegation. Quite ironic when many of them are not even in the Champions League. Secondly, to continue to play in and control the EPL, including scheduling of domestic competitions and participation. They should certainly be thrown out of the latter and their players excluded from national teams. I wonder whether the FA and EPL would have the bottle to do that? Gary Neville is right about an independent regulator with teeth that can rebalance control of the game away from these big clubs

If that's what they want, let them go. Throw them out of all English competitions, and if they come back cap on hand, make them start again in the lowest league. I feel sorry for their proper supporters. Not the armchair type. How can they afford to follow their team?

The same Gaz talking about giving managers enough time, I dont believe him and I think he would have wanted it at his prime.

Gary needs to shut his mouth.
If you relegate man u, arsenal and Liverpool, then that's going to damage Blackpools chances of winning the championship next season.
You don't relegate man utd , arsenal and liverpool. You throw them out of all the domestic leagues and let them go to their new league. Good riddance to them and that would help Blackpool's chances of progressing

It’s to do with the Far East market. How many in that region support teams outside the big Six?
No thought not.

Apparantly Raiola has already come out and said that several of his clients would have to assess their future with their respective clubs if this league is made and bans on international football are put in place. He represents Pogba, Haaland, Ibrahimović and De Ligt as well as more. The fall out is already starting with the players.

What more do they fooking want?

They’re all multi hundred million pound companies, with global reach, zero chance of getting relegated and attracting the biggest name players as it is.

In all honesty what is left for them to gain?

Like a lot have said let them go it would make domestic football a lot more competitive and thus more interesting. Bar them from returning for say a minimum of ten years and let this absolute bullocks of a ‘super league’ eat it’s self.
