Its all a bit average isn't it?

Based on who was available to the manager it was as good a side as he could have picked.

Agree with unnecessary subs. I sometimes get the impression that NC wants to try things to show us that he's a great coach who is outthinking his opponent. I know that's probably bollocks, but it does look that way at time. The world is full of coaches making a simple game more difficult. Square pegs in round holes, players asked to play in half positions where they're neither one thing or the other and too much tinkering when simply putting your best X1 out would give you the highest probability of getting 3 points.
I think Critchley is guilty of over coaching and over thinking 🤔

We seem to be the only team that makes treble substitutions? Didn’t think we needed to after equalising on Saturday? The subs were coming on before we did but the changes carried on.

He’s definitely not over coaching our set-pieces... I don’t get the fascination with this floaty, slow ball in?

Garbutt needs to play for his set-piece delivery alone.

Elsewhere you said you preferred the Bristol Rovers performance to the Hull game. Make your mind up.
Go and read all my posts including the BR match thread. No mind to make up at all. We played well against BR but lost, we were mediocre against Hull but drew. In the real world Wiz, you can play well and lose and you can play bad and win. The point was being made about getting a point away to the team that was second and I simply responded by saying we got no points away to BR and Shrewsbury.

We had 76% pass success rate on Saturday with 324 accurate passes compared to Hull at 73% and 270.
The stats are meaningless a lot of the time...as a team we are very frustrating at time and an accurate sideways or backwards pass doesnt have the same value as an accurate forward pass. When we are 1-0 down and losing the game the other teams have a habit of letting us play the toothless possession game that doesnt threaten them at all. Unfortunately when we are winning a game 1-0 this possession and retention of the football seems to go out of the window and we constantly give the ball away. Our game management is NOT good and has cost us a few points already this season.

Of course the stats are somewhat meaningless. I think MKDons were the most sucessful passers at 83% with 443 passes and they lost 3-0.
But no more meaningless than:
"It was shit we couldn't string 2 passes together."

I've got to be honest. I hate the phrase *game management*

When did it appear? It was never a thing and then suddenly it's everywhere.

Is it just a politer way of saying 'time wasting' which was what we always called it.

1-0 up,so time waste.

Now people purr over "excellent game management" like it's a different thing.

If you say it like a dalek you can pull off a Sean Dyche 100%

Its not just time wasting and dark arts though...when we are losing we pass the ball side to side and then back and then side and then back...when we are losing its a hot potato

A great innings and of some substance and quality, which in the world of the runchase is the AVFTT equivalent of 'Test match special'.

Much better than a rain delayed one day knock, using US baseball or some other tedious such sport as a basis for an innings.
