Stick with Woodburn

This lad has had a difficult few years with injuries, and for me needs some time. If keshi and CJ weren’t out with injuries and kaikai wasn’t so anonymous I’d maybe be more comfortable with letting him go back, but the fact is we need stability and if Woodburn was to leave as well as kemp we’d once again be looking at a completely different side to the one we started with. Who’s to say another loan player wouldn’t take time to adjust and by then we’d have more reinforcements in that position?
I know he hasn’t offered enough, but I think he’s worth a risk. You don’t make appearances for Liverpool and Wales at 19 if you don’t have something.

He is obviously well thought of but he needs a good run of games and I think that needs to be the next division down.
He adds nothing to our team and we need doers not don'ts at the moment.

This is my point re run of games. Places out wide are up for grabs tomorrow and he could get the run of games he needs

He's a player with a lot of ability (apparantly) but has yet to show it for us although he did ok today when he came on.

Not been taken with him to date, but he did well today and he had a decent cameo as sub in a recent game I forget as well.

He's a young player that has been asked to play in different positions in a side still finding it's feet.
People expect too much, too soon. I'd like to see him get a decent consistent run in the team, I'm confident that after a few games he'd contribute more than Kaikai has been.

If Critch wants him to stay, it's fine by me.

I’d keep him, with Kemp gone, Keshi out and Bez coming off injured. It’s pretty low risk and unlikely to make any difference to the players we are trying to bring in. He needs a run of games though, obviously.

A career record of just 2 goals in 50 appearances suggests he doesn't have much...and he hasn't shown much here.

Absolute nonsense a loan player is supposed to improve your first 11 not become a squad player and be used as a sub.
Get rid.
Our 3 best players in 2020 before last season ended KDH, Ronan & Moore where on loan the bloke has offered nowt he may come good but he may not would rather get another player I've never heard of come to BR and go wow wish we had him on the books.

I’m not comfortable us paying him a big wage when it’s obviously not warranted. Massively overrated. If Liverpool paid most of the wage he may as well stay as he just might pull his finger out now he’s drinking in the last chance saloon. If he doesn’t like others say he’ll struggle to get another club.

I'd rather improve the players that are signed permanently for us than putting time, money and energy into someone that is only gonna leave soon. A loan player should in theory come into the squad and enhance it, personally I dont think Kemp or Woodburn really have yet Ballard certainly has. There are some good lads at prem teams that could be loaned out. The fact that Ronan has gone playing in the Swiss second division still baffles my head, would have had him back here in a heart beat. But it just proves the type of talent that is still there, we need to be going after players like him.

Think you missed my point really. I know Woodburn hasn’t done enough, I know he should be more than a squad player. My point is with our injuries and especially Kemp leaving, would it not be easier to keep someone who’s been training with the squad for months and give him a chance starting a few games now the space has arisen in a previously competitive area of our squad?

And your missing my point a loan player is someone you bring in to play not sit on the bench.
KDH didn't need to be around the squad he made an impact straight away as did Coleman,Shelvey,Adam and Walker recently etc.
Your argument is keep him because it's good back up why when there could be better loans.
He doesn't get in the side when CJ is back get rid and have loans to improve us not make someone else's player better.

Last chance saloon at 21? Jeez

Nya Kirby was on the fringe for a bit then seemed to explode into life. Looked a bit lightweight and innefectual then suddenly had an insane game or two.

On that note, I'd have him back tomorrow.

Full international, played in the Liverpool
First team, suffered more than his fair share of injuries, played 40 odd times including internationals a lot as sub or coming back from said injuries. Career so far has not really got going, but he is 21 FFS he is still a great talent, some of his flicks and touches are beyond what we have in the squad, don’t write him off a young lad yet

For me, he can take his flicks and touches elsewhere. I reckon Liverpool will try and offload him or release him at some point.

He's decent, and could be good. But if Critchley thought he was good enough he'd be starting.

The loan system exists for clubs like ours to sign players that are at a level that we couldn't afford permanently. If we can't afford them permanently, they should really be a better standard than our permanent players, and therefore should be making a far greater impact than Woodburn and Kemp have done. Ballard for example is excellent and is probably out of our price range, as was KDH.

I fail to see the point in bringing in loan players that sit on the bench because they're deemed no better than our permanent players.

Bang on the money Liverpool can't be happy with Ben only having 9 league appearances out of 21 mainly as a sub either it's not what you send your players out for.

At this point I’m not sure Liverpool care.

They must know at this point that he’s not going to make it there, and so the loans are just a way to kill time until his contract is up and in the meantime get a little bit of cash off the wage bill and maybe a small fee if he puts himself in the shop window while on loan.

I think it is a close call.

I'd probably send him back in the hope that our recruitment team can find us a real match winner

He looked far far more like the player I was expecting on Saturday. Nice touches, eager to get the ball and the dash through he looked confident like he was going to score till that prick from Hull sliced him down.

I feel like he would be lucky to get a perm contract here but an extension of his loan would be worth it for me. Start him Tuesday.

So that's:
- Kemp (recalled, signed for Leyton Orient)
- Anderson (out injured for the rest of the season)
- Woodburn (sent back to Liverpool)

Surely we should start to see incomings now as that is three places freed up?

Shame he's gone back imo, it always seemed to me that like all young players he needed time to bed in.
The calls from the usual suspects saying he was crap etc was over the top and totally unnecessary.

Makes you wonder whether Critch wasn't impressed with what he saw, Liverpool wanted him back because he wasn't playing enough, or........ we have someone else lined up.

Let's hope it is the latter.

Hearing the news made me think we must be getting someone else in before tomorrow, but nothing imminent according to scrafton. I actually think Mitchell/Garbutt could do a job out wide. Another option would be to play a diamond with sullay in CAM. But don’t think that will happen

Completely the correct decision that he’s gone back for all parties.

Wasn’t getting game time and when he did play did not look like he could influence the game what so ever.

Sending back both the loanees are positive moves from the men upstairs.

Next up would be to move Sarkic out on loan, Thorniley and Howe out all together and sadly Kai Kai out of the club sorry TD. (Hardie will move on in the summer, Nuttall needs to be looked after and next season I would suggest something like a season long loan to Stockport may help him a great deal, as well as all the other obvious players out of contract or not involved)

Then we could recruit another centre back, a central creative mid and a striker.

Agree with all this but if Kaikai left we probably need another winger as well, don't think our wings have been great with CJ out.

Probably the right decision, shame really he never quite got going, do think there’s a decent player in there somewhere.

Best of luck to him though, hopefully Critch & co have somebody lined up to replace him.

I don't think we sent Kemp back (did you mean Kemp?) The 'ammers recalled him because Orient wanted him.

Still the correct decisions though.

We need better (than Kemp/Woodburn & who we currently have) in key areas of the pitch, this presents us with the perfect opportunity to bring them in. I just hope it happens a long time before 1st Feb.

I agree mate, I just feel like we need to give Bez or Mitchell a proper run in the side, this season when there’s little risk. As we need to get a full assessment of them because they’re on longish contracts. If they’re no good we need to work out a way to get them off the books. If they turn out to be decent we might not need another outlay on a winger.
