Out of interest, what do we think, would you have kept any of the players released?

Maybe do another poll, who else would you have got rid of?
For me, Beesley, CJ, Kouassi, Joseph, Lyons, Norburn and Thompson would have also been shown the door!!

Given the number of Golden Gamble's we take I'd have kept Lavery for 12 months and tried to get him proper fit and coach the stretching out of him. There is a good striker in there, with the right service of course.

Marv next, but I think his heart was no longer here.

Lavery , useless , marv poor at defending and distributing the ball , no great loss . CJ should have gone as well . Connolley league 1 , codheads will take him back .

So basically the vast majority wanted Marv to stay and the rest to go? Marv didn’t want to stay as he wants a move for more cash.

So why the doom and gloom?

I liked Marv but the club never received any cash offers for him in the last 4 years

Unfortunately, I'd let the all go. Marv has been a good servant but Critchley's preferred set up exposed his limitations. Of course, he would have been solid in a back four but that's not what the man wants.

Just out of interest, where has the 'Marv wanted to leave' - 'Marv wanted to move for more money' come from? Is it base on fact or just speculation?
He was player of the season not so long ago. Yes he has limitations with the ball at his feet, but if there's ever a last ditch tackle or header, then it's been Marv whose usually done it.
The formation that NC plays doesn't suit any of our centre backs, as none are even upper championship standard, let alone PL standard.
Good luck for the future Marv.

Marv but he didn’t want to stay so off he pops. The rest thanks for your efforts but time to move on.
I remember a few on here were clambering for Brad Holmes to start for us, never materialised, is it non league bound for him now?

Sounds a bit ungrateful but I’m not arsed Marv is going.I think we can bring in a better centre back.He hasn’t been the same since the season before last, never really improved on the ball and has too many mistakes in him.I don’t think he is Championship level. Not now anyway.I think we overate him a bit based on previous form.I accept he needs a partner next to him but in general I think we had the best of him.

Will miss his share of goals he could get though

Over 450 appearances between the 4 of them for us.

Virtue and Connolly are the very definition of journeymen. Marv has been wobbly for a couple of seasons and Lavs just isn't good enough. I wish them all the best.

We have a lot of dead wood. I'd like to think Kouassi and Thompson will both be sent on loan, Lyons won't play until 2025 and so little can be done there but I'd send him out on loan in the New Year, Joseph has a massive pre-season ahead of him, Beesley will be a bench warmer and if we make any plans to start the season around Norburn then we're dead in the water!

The only one I would have wanted to stay was Marv, I hope we can recruit better than Lavery, Virtue and Connolly, but we'll have to wait and see.
Keeping Marv would have given us a bit of continuity at the back but would have probably forced Casey out. In any case Marvs contract is up and I can only presume he thinks he can do better elsewhere I have no problem with that at all, unless it's the Nobbers.
Virtue and Connolly hardly played towards the end of the season and I think Lavery has never regained full fitness after his injuries, like I say I hope we can find better.
