Marv, Lavery, Virtue gone

Lots of the youngsters gone too, which might also point to the rumoured shuttering of the development squad. It's the right thing to do if they aren't good enough to bother the first team squad.
 
No great shocks there but Marvin Ekpiteta has to be replaced properly or else it will be noticed.

There is still a lot of bodies in the building who will have more of an effect on the payroll than the first team, but that's nothing new with this club.
 
Be interesting to see where the likes of Lavery Marv Virtue and Connolly end up.
I’d expect Thompson and one or two others under contract to be moved on as well.
 
Glad Husband looks like staying. Sorry Marv is leaving but even more important we keep Casey if that is so.

Of the rest I am sorry Mariette is going as I liked what I saw from him but the rest are not going to be a huge loss.

Clearly we need to try to sign Byers and Rhodes as a priority.Coulson possibly could be useful.

Harvey Bardsley will I guess become this choice keeper. Looking at what we have it doesn’t look too bad but defensive signings and a forward with pace are a must.

Fully agree, let's at least get these 3 signed up ASAP!
 
I'm glad to have a clear out. A lot of dead wood or players who don't suit the way we want to play. We need a big overhaul. The issue isn't releasing who we have it will come if we don't spend on good replacements

Agreed on Mariette and I think he will still make it in League football.
 
A bit sad but once the list is produced I like to put down the ‘best’ eleven we have and then adjust it as new signing arrives.

Looking at what we have now and based on Critchleys usual formation we are looking like this without any signings yet….

I see this as worst case but not too bad a side.
 
Good to see all of those going and i’m not bothered about Marv.

People said we’d never ever replace Clarke but we did and Casey until he got his suspension was a much better Centreback at the start of the season.
 
Tis football, no real surprises and an opportunity to rebuild. We need to find another bowler, dembele type somehow!

I'm guessing a combination of Marv's agent bigging up a deal at the level above and Marv not enjoying the system as he struggled early doors.

Good luck to all the players leaving, especially big Marv he has served us well.
 
I see that Brad Holmes has been moved out - never kicked on did Brad and best for both parties to move on.

See we’ve activated contract for Sonny and Jake Daniels - big season for both next season for differing reasons.

Marv probably lower end of the Championship, Lavery and Virtue will probably find clubs in L1.

Connolly is the interesting one, I presume that the club offered him a new deal, but he turned them down, hence why he's not been involved since January, I can see him ending up as a squad player at a Championship club, as cover across the back and in midfield.

“ we need another bowler” Thats where we’ve been going wrong, we’ve been signing cricketers.🤣
 
No surprises with the 4 who made first team appearances as they all were at the end of options periods or had no further option to extend.
 
Marv on his best form will be a big miss.

Lavery never got enough run of matches between his longer term injuries. Liked his work rate, but his goal return wasn’t the best.

Of the younger players, I liked the look of Trusty and Mariette. They had a touch of class.
 
Basically anyone good is leaving. Already happened with Dale and now Marv. Obviously the loan players that carried the team last season have gone.

We have just got to hope there are 4 worse teams than us next season.
