It's always baffled me that we leave vast swathes of empty seats either side of an away section. Why not save money on seats and just have an empty blank space instead? Or do what they do in most other grounds, leave a couple of rows and stick stewards in there to barrier it off? From the days when we were little old Blackpool. Before the eighties the home end for the vast majority of games was The Kop!
It's currently the stand with the best atmosphere and is full most games..why change to a stand with a smaller capacity?
The East should be for away fans, lets hope SS builds big with minimum a 5,000 seats, we can offer 3,500 to 4,500.tickets to visiting fans.
That's the correct way of doing stuff the aways then get use of toilets and bar in SE corner without having to segregate in the South Concourse. There's no need and that won't happen. A temporary move to upset the north is even more unnecessary.
As said the SE corner holds 643 and give then block X, where virtually no-one goes, and it's about right, we then still have a bit under 10k in the 3 sides excluding hospitality.
They'll find a way to segregate the south stand, it's not hard with barriers etc.
This is all if the east can't come down in 2 stages, if it can then there's no real issue.
Or continue to do what we do now and allow only 2,150 away fans even though the capacity of the East is 5,000 but we have nearly 3,000 empty seats and perhaps another 500-800 empty seats in the SE corner as segregation!3K is not enough for some of the bigger followings and if and when we get back to the Championship, then there will be many who would bring more than 3K.
It still happened without promotion to PL that temporary East stand would never been built and the away fans permanently in Block A/B in the North.Oh right...3 games. Wow
Think it has been said it is the same capacity as now- 4600, but that is only for outline planning and can change, up or down. It's going to be smaller than the "temporary" stand. So I'd imagine with segregation and separate entrances the capacity will be 2,000 tops?
Or do what Newcaste did, build a huge stand and put the away fans right up in the Gods where you have to go to the 7th floor in the lift to get there!Build a two tier East stand and put the away fans in the lower tier
Well yeah, that se concourse can support over 2k fans so having a bit over 1k is fine. So yes concourse area in the south isn't needed for them, even simpler. They all just enter as usual and go to those 2 blocks. That's the correct way of doing stuff the aways then get use of toilets and bar in SE corner without having to segregate in the South Concourse.
Assuming the construction doesn’t massively impede views or make the corner unusable for any period.Well yeah, that se concourse can support over 2k fans so having a bit over 1k is fine. The corner and block X is pretty much near 10% that we need to give and is very little disruption for moving home fans as it's sparsely populated.
You'd have to move a few in the next block which will be a small bit of segregation, but again it's not loads.
I'd be very surprised if this isn't what happened, it's the easiest, most obvious and least disruptive way.
Mates, set off now. You don't want to miss any of next season...Btw, I’m thinking of moving from the hmm “respectful” west stand to the north next season and I’m 81. Need a bit of banter, that’s assuming something significant happens with management and or players, or preferably both.
I don't see why it would, should be able to get a large amount done over a slightly longer summer.Assuming the construction doesn’t massively impede views or make the corner unusable for any period.
Also there’s the issue of access/egress around the ground and how that looks before and after fixtures with a massive construction project in situ.
Also there’s likely to be an impact on the hotel and hospitality that’s got to be considered.
I think A, B and C block are the sensible and likely areas to be given over.
‘Upsetting’ those in the North temporarily won’t have a logistical or financial impact - whereas trying to segregate the South and manage the resulting fall out will.
I do wonder what’s happening with the arcade.I don't see why it would, should be able to get a large amount done over a slightly longer summer.
The construction silted will be from thr east, shouldn't affect people approaching from the south.
But I guess we'll see when it's done...
It's not on the initial renders, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything as they're just complete guesses.I do wonder what’s happening with the arcade.
The new exit gates for away fans are to the side of the arcade. If the arcade site forms part of the development or the alleyway/roadway behind it is impacted then it will have a major impact on circulation around the ground - especially so if Henry Street is significantly narrowed during construction.
The players said it was like playing away when that previously happened and we cant have that with Crotchless in charge, can we?Until we can fill the rest of the ground, just give away fans the full east stand. May aswell maximise revenue from tickets and concourse sales
… and you don’t want to upset Raggy! The players said it was like playing away when that previously happened and we cant have that with Crotchless in charge, can we?
Relegated with about 30 points I reckon
