Sadler.. insider trading?

It looks to me as if Sadler is named as a defendant and his bail set at 1million HKD, much more than La Rocca’s. So it seems to me that his involvement is much more than just a regulatory necessity. If the document in the op is genuine, then this looks pretty serious.

That said, innocent until proven guilty and insider trading in the U.K. is very difficult to prove. If the law is the same in HK then the SFC will have an uphill task. If securities/investors in the USA are involved then that’s a whole new ball game.

I’m actually quite concerned.
Not only that Mex, but with this in the background its more likely that SS might not have the full commitment and/or attention with what's going on with the Pool.
Again, hopefully I'm wrong.

Is it then possible that this could affect our summer business due to the potential for financial repercussions for him as an individual and his business?

That’s the question a lot of people will be asking.

Stand corrected.

If LaRocca had a hint of an investigation he would have been bound to reveal them as part of his recruitment process, or face immediate termination. It's generally 'okay' to have investigations ongoing, as long as you are fully transparent about this.

Your point about them coming as as a bolt from the blue could well be correct, but we will never know. Usually getting to court takes a year or more, so I'd assume this wasn't a big surprise.
I have asked a friend of mine who has been (is) a Head Hunter over HK and Singapore specifically for 25 years dealing with traders, what JP Morgan would do if they got a whiff of impropriety during the recruitment process.

I will share his answer when I get it!

Seaside Holding Ltd. is a UK company which funds the football club. I doubt very much it has any connection to Segantii, and I doubt a HK court has any jurisdiction to reach into Simon Sadler's personal wealth in the UK, or his UK businesses.

It shouldn’t. Management in place at the club, clear communication and understanding between principals and budget already agreed. If anything with stability being important it buys Critchley more time.

I lightly keep in touch with Hong Kong and its politics and governance. I would be very surprised if it compares in fairness to the UK system.

What PRC wants, PRC gets. Democracy and the rule of law in our terms went years ago.

Seaside Holdings directs back to the Caymans, so I agree HK legal will struggle to get close!!

Although the man….

A quick look at HK law for this, it appears that because he is the CIO, they can charge him as being directly involved regardless

@cside

I have had an answer from my mate who has hired Traders for JP Morgan for about 25 years in HK and the answer is a categorical ‘No’ they wouldn’t have hired him if they had a whiff of anything going on that was outstanding.

FT today

This is a big deal. It’s rare to see criminal charges of this magnitude brought against a prominent fund manager,” said Kher Sheng Lee, Asia-Pacific co-head of the Alternative Investment Management Association, a hedge fund industry body.

Will this affect the club ?
No. Stop panicking. He knew full well what he was doing. Diversified his assets and ring fenced them. He’s not going to jail. At most a fine and some reorganization. Life goes on and a Sadler doesn’t change his spots. Management in place at the club and budget already set. Club can run smoothly without him.

Oh please. He plays ball it’s a slap on the wrist. How many financial miscreants have gone to jail in your lifetime? No real justice in the world in courts just processing and containment. If anyone tells you differently anywhere in the world have them look at the ethnicity and economic status of their prison population.

Owner of Fleetwood springs to mind before even looking anything up!

And, club still going, unknown assets presumably (choosing words carefully) fine and working for him and soon out of jail. If I said to you full bed and board serve seven years and then come out and your money will be waiting for you would you do it? Many would. Milken still a rich man and so will Bankman be when he gets out.

I was talking to a guy who's a multi billionaire hedge fund manager who sits in the South and has a weekend caravan at Haven.

He was telling me all the inside knowledge on this case, as he's a big deal in financial circles (Has a bank account in Lytham)
We were chatting with all the top guys and he told me, that last year, SS did this 'inside' deal, so he could raise funds to take over Manchester Utd.

Didn't want to say anything at the time....but now it's been mentioned on here, I thought I would mention it in passing.

I'm not wanting to brag......I always said to Andy P, I don't do bragging....How we used to laugh over a few free Peroni's in VIP.
Anyway..... I also know all the players who were going to sign this Summer....
I'm only going to confirm their names, after they have fully signed for the club......... so please don't try to get any names out of me.....

All I can say about the first player were signing is.......He's a decent lad, done very well for his club this year, great right foot....and left foot, should be signing in the next few weeks, as long as nothing goes wrong....You heard it here first.......

OK so I've just been reading about Hedge Funds and how a company like Segantii may operate. It is a high risk/high return investment strategy in a world of high finance I know virtually know nothing about so I wouldn't pretend otherwise.

Simon Sadler appears to be genuinely interested in "giving back" to Blackpool and Blackpool FC so I think he should be applauded for that. I just hope he hasn't bitten off more than he can chew because sustaining Championship football is a money pit as seen at PKE and T'Rovers.

That is one of the more believable posts on AVFTT 😂

It’s funny all those saying Simon was so different than the Oystons and what a good man he is have gone silent. And before feathers ruffle let’s state Uncle Simon is not a convicted rapist. The irony being that people that knew Owen since he was an actor and first went into real estate would tell you he was a rascal and many other things but not a rapist.

The way I understand it is Sadler is guilty of not having robust processes in place to stop employees carrying out unscrupulous business practices. He's not being charged with being a crook like Pilley but with not being able to detect wrongdoing quickly enough.

Maybe those people to whom you refer just don’t spend every hour of their whole lives on AVTT.

Or it might be that they don’t feel able to comment or come to a view about some court case in Hong Kong the facts of which we know very little about.

Either way there seems to be a lot of people jumping to conclusions on here on the basis of a couple of paragraphs in a few newspapers.

Unless im told any different by someone itk I’m expecting and looking forward to seeing some decent recruitment this summer with a view to promotion to the championship next season .
