Trams

I think it will be a huge advantage to be able to get a team from the train station to anywhere on the promenade and to Cleveleys and Fleetwood
Most visitors arriving at North Station have only thing on their minds jump in a taxi, get to the hotel, throw their bags into the room and go on the piss! This line extension is nothing but a complete waste of time and money and l fail to see how it benefits the town IMO!

The queues at North Pier tram stops suggest otherwise.

What a shallow view you have of the visitors who come to our town.
Not everyone comes just go on the piss.

Linking trains, trams and buses together is the stable of any town or city in the world but hey you know better.

I don’t disagree the trams are popular with visitors as it’s a novelty and a sometimes nostalgic journey, and l have quite often seen trams drive through stops because they are full leaving queues on the platform. I just don’t get the line extension from Talbot Square to North Station and how it can possibly be justified but again it’s my opinion.

Rubbish, there’s always been a good bus connection between the station and the promenade to connect with the trams without the need to extend the tram line.

Sorry to break your bubble we don't have a bus station next the train station anymore.
And the bus stops for different routes are all over Talbot road.

Nothing wrong with linking everything together it the way modern towns and cities work.

What's your beef or are you like @Macseasider who never ventures into town and just slags the place off all the time.

Nope l venture into town quite often and use North Station quite a lot too and no I'm not slagging the place, I’m questioning the cost and value added of the tramline extension but l forgot people aren’t allowed to have opinions when you’re on your hobby horse. And if you know or use North Station there are a number of busses you can use to and from.

Your having a locals perspective as ST posts above what's wrong with the millions who come to our town knowing they can get on tram after getting off the train straight to the Pleasure Beach,Waxworks or any other attraction?

Whether it's the wisest use of money ever displayed is debatable although it comes from different funding pots so often can't be used for things people suggest in comments sections on FB etc.

Anyway it's happened and happening and now that it is it's pretty awesome to see, especially when the older trams are used too.

It may only be a quarter of a mile to the front but that can be quite far for certain people or especially in bad weather. Buses are available but its definitely far easier to get straight on the tram.

The ease of accessibility from the train station is welcome and brings Blackpool in line with bigger cities.

It's nothing but a folly and a vanity project for the stupid. The cost of this pointless line could have repaired most of the crumbling roads in the town.
Roads are funded from a completely different budget. The tram money has come from a ring fenced pot that wouldn't have been spent in the town if not on this.

Well Blackpool Council have the budget for maintenance of roads and pavements according to their website. The decision to "ringfence" money for this folly would be made by the same council.

Trams are neither roads or pavements. Its a different budget that was bid for from national funds specifically for that purpose.

I just wish they would link with Blackpool South and make that line trams. Not in my lifetime though.
Absolutely right. Link at Squires Gate then go all the way to Preston on the South rail line. Light rail for the whole of the Fylde, running north through Poulton, onto Fleetwood, to link back with the trams again. Now that would be an infrastructure project to get behind.
