Norburn yes or no

Norburn is obviously a half decent player, but does he fit with the "Blackpool way" of playing.
He seems to set the tempo of the game, which looks pedestrian, but with better players around him could it work?
He is not a playmaker but recycles the ball, so if other players around him could pick out the passes as well as Dembele does, he could be effective.
He will almost certainly be with us next season along with Critchley, so we need him to be a useful member of the team.

It's a no from me. Too slow and too negative. I do wonder if he is still carrying the rib injury. He's not even got close to the levels he reached at Peterborough, whether that's age, formation or whatever, he's been a massive let down.
Keith Southern worked as he allowed Charlie and Vaughan to drive the team forward, while he did the boring bits.
We had a lot of options to pick forward passes, and manage successful crosses, so could afford Keith being a stopper and short pass player, and in spite of what Ted thinks I think he did it well.

He's Critchley's captain. He plays to Critchley's instructions. I think there's a good player in there so it's a 'yes' from me.

Keith, Charlie and Vaughan were top Championship players who didn't embarrass in the Prem. There's no comparison.

If Norburn was still at Peterborough then I'd imagine he would still be playing really well. The way I view it is that Norburn and a lot of our midfield to be fair get the ball and have very little ahead of them in terms of movement or players wanting the ball. As a result we go sideways and backwards to keep the ball, slow everything down too much and then the defender after a couple of passes between cbs lumps it forward anyway. What Norburn needs is a midfielder with him who will take the ball and take a risk and create but again with no movement up front how can they.

As with the majority of players playing Critchball they look foo king useless and clueless.
Under another coach playing football probably a very good player . Would Adam and Vaughan look half decent playing under Critchley's instructions????

He can't tackle, rarely makes interceptions, doesn't break up opposition play in any useful manner, has no recovery, is slow, has no positional awareness, hardly ever shows for the ball from defence, can't pass other than backwards, is pretty much a non entity when we are attacking to the extent he's just flattening the grass, and is so rarely involved in goals or goal scoring opportunities that it should probably be a national holiday when he does.

I'm not a fan.

If anyone didn't already know that.

I don't get where all the he was a good player at Peterborough. He had two seasons with them the first one where they got relegated from champs, conceding nearly 90 goals, and winning I think seven games all season. The season after Peterborough got into the L2 play offs but he was injured for a lot of it, which might explain when Peterborough played well, without him. The only time his stats look even remotely decent was with Shrewsbury, who were fundamentally a mid to lower table L2 team. Before that he flittered around the national league.

If we have serious thoughts about the play-offs next season then we need to ditch him as he’s not good enough he’s been a massive disappointment.

There’s been flashes of quality but I’d describe him as sluggish, rash and he’s always moaning.

Just very unconvincing from a player who came with a decent pedigree.

Disappointing and a no from me.

After all the hype about him, he had a good first month, done nothing since. Get rid.

No. My mate who,s a serious Peterboro supporter told me after we got him ,his sit on lawn mower was faster and that didn't go round in circles

I wonder if he would be better deployed as one of the three CBs in our current formation with Byers in front of him.

I think he is ideal for Critchley's possession football, he will be facing the opposition goal but when he receives the ball turns and passes back, we don't lose it but it is so dull. I was not disappointed that he was not playing.
He did score a really nice goal against Bristol though.

Release him doesn’t bring anything to the team can’t tackle won’t pass forwards. I liked Kevin Stewart in that role he contributed much more to the team in his 13 appearances than Olly has done all this season

Oddly as it stands he's possibly a contender for goal of the season.
Clearly as a Peterborough player he was part of a reasonably successful attacking formation.
On Saturday Carey was frequently the "water carrier" picking the ball up deep and still ending up in the box. We don't get that from Norburn and I wonder if we actually need a "defensive" midfielder in our current formation.
So he wouldn't be in my starting 11 in a fully fit squad in the current formation but it would be interesting to see how he would perform in a different role.

Gnashes was brilliant for us. Great crunching tackles and time after time stopping opposition attacks.
And that first game in the championship away to Leicester….
Who can forget the 1-0 win with a Southern screamer!
Ted’s just weird for always slating him.
