CJ Hamilton

I couldn’t believe Hamilton had a go at Kouassi in the first half, this was after Hamilton gave a terrible pass to Pennington that put us into trouble.

Should never have gotten a new 4 Yr contract. An extremely limited player. Sure he can have his uses but for me it's off the bench in very certain situations. If we can get shot in the summer we really should.
It was an extended contract, till June 2026 So effectively, he has 2 seasons left after this. There is a one year option in the club's favour.

He was terrible yesterday, couldnt clear the first man on any of his crosses. He told Dembele to play it through a gap and then he gave up. I cant remember the last "ok" preformance.

Should we move him on in the summer?
Dembele's passing was poor all game and at least CJ was getting the ball in the box . He did a great pass to Kuassi, who failed to get his shot away ,right in front of goal and should have scored .
I am not saying CJ had a good game ,but he is getting the ball across . Gabriel did very little up front and I believe CJ is supplying our best chances at the moment.

CJ has been shocking for a while and you can look no further than Critchley for this as yet again he is one of many players who is played out of position. He’s a winger and best used as an impact sub in that position, but a WB he most certainly isn’t and never more evidenced than yesterday and how he starts in that position ahead of JG is just madness.

Yes, he's a winger but I did see him head out of defence in the second half yesterday.

i think he's bloody awful but i will slightly defend him on one point. He rarely gets a decent cross in more often than not failing to get it past the first man. But our strikers [Rhodes excepted] don't seem to have a clue about how to get ahead of the first man inanticipation of a [shit] cross coming in.

He looked OK in the first half, in the advanced, attacking role.

Second half in a more defensive role (as per the coaches instructions) then he looked like a fish out of water.

He's been very poor since signing his new contract but let's be honest, he's not a wing back and this formation kills him. Mainly because in general he receives the ball too deep. His end product is erratic however as an impact winger he'd be quite useful at this level, not as a wing back which he's never played before this season.

He is an impact sub 2nd half and needs to play on the half way with balls over top... to run at tired legs... but critch doesn't see that. Position he plays him essential we might as well play with 10.... but critch won't change.

Derby County wanted him in January… was that really true??
No, I think you must've misheard. I've picked up on reports that there was some proprietor or other (from the Fylde Coast, no less), who, back in Spring of last year, was looking to arrange a donkey-derby for the benefit of the visiting hordes to our fair town in the summer season of 2023, and the person in question just happened to be passing Bloomers late one Saturday afternoon on matchday, and overheard a couple of Blackpool fans bemoaning what they had just witnessed inside the ground.

"Well, that was an absolutely shocking display," said one to the other, "worst I've seen them this season."

"Yeah, I know what you mean," replied his companion. "And as for that donkey Hamilton ..."

It was on hearing this, rumour has it, the passing proprietor's ears immediatiately shot up ...

And, if that isn't a true measure of just how appalling we are at the moment, I don't know what is ...

As chief apologist for C...omplete J...oke Hamilton, I don't think even you, W-O-T, can dispute the fact that yesterday
he was beyond p-ss-p--r.

I’ve just posted on the Norburn thread and I’ll say the same thing if we have serious thoughts about the play-offs next season then we need to ditch him as he’s simply not good enough.

He’s a winger not a wing back
Wasn’t doing too bad early on in the season when the kop were singing his name.
Signed a new contract and not played well since and lacking confidence.
Thought yesterday he wasn’t too bad but crossing let him down

I like CJ, in the right set up he’s a good player for us.

Unfortunately he’s the scapegoat for a lot of the posters on AVTT.

And I doubt many have played at the level he is playing at.

Uck you AVTT posters ( that’s what I’d say if I were CJ)

And?
We've several players who've been awful for a few years now and CJ tops the list.
Seems like a nice guy, but there's no room for sentiment.
That NC starts him so regularly says a lot - IMHO.
Rather than, 'says a lot', I'd be more inclined to go with something a little more apposite; namely, 'says absolutely everything'.

Funny how talking to other League One fans (I have mates who are Wigan, Bolton, Shrewsbury and Barnsley fans) and they have singled out CJ, Dembele and Rhodes as the three players who have impressed them this season. I wonder if we know what he can do and when he doesn't we go in to meltdown and forget the things he does well.

You might as well say you don't watch football. What a load of absolute ** shit.

I said at the start of the season, lack of quality in attacking areas are why we got relegated. Hamilton is one of our MASSIVE problems. Our fans overrate him massively.

Easily one of the worst players I've ever seen for Blackpool FC who's played over 50 games. It's the WORST player contract decision to give him a new deal. I've never known a footballer be allowed to have ONE good game in 10-15 games and get away with it. It's incredible.

He stunk the place out Saturday and was the worst player on the pitch by some distance.

What set up? What actual set up? In the Championship he looked good when we were ahead and the opposition went for it.

He lacks ability in every aspect.

Can't head. Can't shoot. Can't cross. Can't beat a man unless he twats it 30 yards ahead of him. He has zero footballing IQ at all.

No team, at any level, can afford to play with only ten men.If Cj plays and someone else is off their game then its impossible.

Completely this. The guy is not only a poor footballer, but he doesn’t even want to get involved. Watch him closely, he moves into positions as to not have the ball passed to him, bottles tackles and headers regularly. He should be demanding the ball, he just wanders about pointing. Terrible terrible player, in the top 5 worst I’ve ever watched for us.

He has a strong tackle in him though and he isn't frightened of putting his foot in and he must be one of the best header's of a ball at the club.

He’s got to toughen up mentally and come back stronger next season.

Seems to lack confidence and when that happens anyone can look poor.

I don’t think it helps him having to play at full back.

He would be much better in a 4-4-2 set up.

Just had a look at some stats: goals + assists. CJ is our third most effective player in that area.

Rhodes (18), Kaddy (17), CJ (10).

Next comes Bees (7) and Morgan (6).

So CJ might be frustrating but he does contribute more than most.

but i daresay percentage wise he would be behind Morgan and Beesley in terms of goals/assists to appearances.

So ,your opinion is right . Well a lot of fans would agree with you ,but if you can name 1 Blackpool player that is at least getting the ball in the box as much as he is then you would be lying. Yes he is not physical and yes most of his crosses are intercepted and I would agree he is not a great winger , but the fact remains he is our best source on the pitch and it is you what may watch the football ,but needs to let your brain actually soak up what is happening.
