After an extensive recruitment process, which included many interviews with various candidates over the past few weeks, I kept coming back to Neil as being the right man to take us forward.

He gained promotion with us, kept us in the Championship in our first season back in the division and has an impressive record when it comes to developing players. He was the clear front-runner for the position and I hope everyone gets behind him and the squad as we push to get back into the Championship.”

Just going back to this paragraph, he might have had an impressive record when it comes to developing players at Liverpool, but hand on heart, name a player that he has developed since he came back? For me, most of the players have done backwards and not progressed.

I didn't want him back as it rarely works second time around, but objectively, if any other manager had Critchley's record, there would be a clamour for us to appoint him.

Perhaps, but he still has a very mixed record. Failed at Villa, failed at QPR and was failing at Blackpool until Calderwood came in.
