    Club Statement

6am on a Friday, a few days after the season's end, and you're on here talking about relegation next season. I can only applaud the commitment to the bit, to be honest.

    Callum Connolly linked with ....

Ah, thought he was coming up to his option year, missed that. Tbf he's someone who is probably worth a punt as cover, if played in his right position occasionally. Not going to lose any sleep over him leaving, anyway.

    Callum Connolly linked with ....

He has been poor all season and was rightfully dropped when it became clear we desperately needed to start picking up points and consecutive wins over the past few weeks. I actually think he could be good backup in a DM position, like others have stated, but we should bite the hand off anyone...

Ironic if we miss out on Goal Difference

There would be nothing ironic about it, it would be completely consequential.

    Apter League 2 Young .....

Only just seen this as I haven't been on much, but: We play 5-3-2 and they're both wide players. CJ was recently given a multiple year contract; you really don't think they'll be competing for a space on the teamsheet next year? I can see you've said he'll 'play the Dembele role', too. Do you...

Let’s get Yates back in summer

Going out on a limb here, but it might, just might be the fact he had a 23-goal season for us in a promotion year, worked his arse of and had a really good rapport with the fans. Also bagged quite a few in a side that were stinking out the Championship in a relegation season, while still giving...

    Byers

Getting Byers was a real steal for us; I said it at the time on here, too. He was underutilised to begin with and then struggled in parts playing next to Norburn, who so often slows the game down or doesn't move the ball on/forward quick enough. He's absolutely a Top 6 midfielder for League...

Yeah, switch your firestick off and hit the club where it really hurts.

    Apter League 2 Young .....

...and I'd imagine Hamilton will still be ahead of him in the pecking order next season, under NC.

I think that Norburn is part of the problem.

My comment was in reply to you saying 'he could put Morgan there'. That would be daft IMO. He has played higher than Norburn in all of his appearances and for good reason.

I think that Norburn is part of the problem.

Morgan has played as an 8 (maybe occasionally a 10) all season. He hasn't been a 6, like Norburn (to use the kids' parlance). Asking Morgan to play that role in a 5-3-2 is mental and completely counterintuitive IMO. He's not that player. Norburn is okay... an okay player in a system that is...

Norburn has been a painful watch for the umpteenth time over the last few months

Shrewsbury v Blackpool Official Matchday Thread 02.03.24

Thing is, I think he can work in this system with Byers pushing on more, like he is today. Norburn just needs to be more confident moving things forward. He seems far too reliant on the safe option but it stifles our play so often
