Haven't had an ITK thread for some time - Well here's one

House by house, street by street, town by town....etc, etc.

If you are following the advice you are contributing to that containment.

Ebola and SARS were both easier to contain as people did not become infectious until there were obvious symptoms. They were both vastly more deadly than Covid-19 though.

I know I’m new to this site and this post will instantly kill my credibility with many on here but for some it will be informative... In February I was speaking to a bloke who works for GSK and was actively seeking information from China and other large Pharmaceutical companies.
His words were that China believe there will never be a way to properly medicate this virus and that it will always come back in different strains. He said there are already three other COVID that are active in human beings and none have a cure.
Scientists, Microbiologist and top doctors will all be looking at a ten year program to fight this!
I think you killed your credibility when you compared Preston and Blackpool and the shops slating all the people in a queue that you were also in. 😉

Coronavirus Horizon special on BBC 2 .
Been on since 9.00.
A fantastic behind the scenes insight into the virus.
Should be available on catch up.
l watched that Dave last night and was a very interesting insight in to what is going in laboratories. Interesting to hear thst there are over 600 labs around the world trying to develop a vaccine for this terrible disease. Well worth a watch👍

I'm fed up with the bad news threads, as it reminds me of the Oyston era which we thought would never end or would end in tears and guess what - we won that battle and we will win this one.
The top brains in the world are working to bring this to an end and they will be successful.
Keep healthy, look after your loved ones and the sun will soon be shining over Bloomfield Road - "Sea Sea Seasiders".

A bit of positive news. The Nightingale Birmingham Hospital is opening today and the Chief Executive of University Hospitals Birmingham said that at the moment it is not required as there is sufficient capacity in the main Birmingham hospitals and they have just 250 ventilators delivered

Yeh, thats the medical view, but the economic situation will sooner or later trump it. The governments strategy is based on not overloading the hospitals. They can cope with 1000 deaths a day, but the economy will tank big time if we are in lockdown for more than a couple of months.

Ultimately it will boil down to a choice between millions out of work and a 20's style recession, or a thousand a day dead.

Deary, I look at it quite differently ... I'd say some might say that all that's wrong with modern society is that we are paralysed by our fear of death. Millions have died in order to preserve the freedoms that we are seemingly willing to capitulate on the basis of nothing much more than 'scientific modelling' at this stage. When you look, with a critical eye, at the excess death rate that has, is or even could result from this so called, pandemic it is likley no worse than a bad flu year and certainly no worse than other epidemics that our forbears have survived.

As I said, a few Months is something that is well worth compromising in order to try and suppress the virus and prevent it overwhelming the NHS, but compromising our freedoms on a permanent basis because we're scared of death or unduly pressured that our freedom might cause someone else to die....That's utter bollox...

It also concerns me that we might be pressured or even forced to accept a fecking vaccine on the basis that not doing so might put everyone else at risk.
Interesting & fair points Bifster. Im not sure about the prospects of vaccine although i certainly hope one will be available at some stage.
Lots of people EXPECTING one but there is no guarantee. If one was developed & readily available I would get it. just like a flu Jab or kids at school get Vaccines for measles etc.
You are not Anti vacc are you?
IF it existed I doubt any 'Western' Country could force everyone to get it & i wouldnt want that.

I'm not sure what you mean by 'Anti-Vac'?

I'm certainly very selective about the toxicity of anything that goes into my body and I'm very suspiscious about the proliferation of vaccine and pharmaceutical 'industry'. When profit is involved in vaccines / drugs, then there will always be cause for a healthy concern IMHO. So it would be a case of determining the pro's and cons of any proposed vaccine and then deciding whether or not I wanted to rely on my own immune system.
