Tues Fixtures

Some interesting match ups on Tues. Accrington Stanley have had some drubbings recently but will still be dangerous opponents with Bishop & Charles upfront. Oxford came back with a bang on Saturday and you would fancy Lincoln to beat MK Dons. Tricky away games for Portsmouth, Ipswich and Sunderland.
  • Crewe Alexandra vs Portsmouth
  • Wigan Athletic vs Sunderland
  • AFC Wimbledon vs Ipswich Town
  • Blackpool vs Accrington Stanley
  • Doncaster Rovers vs Burton Albion
  • Lincoln City vs Milton Keynes Dons
  • Oxford United vs Shrewsbury Town
  • Rochdale vs Swindon Town

MKD will be a tricky game for Lincoln. If Donny fail to beat BAFC then you really can't see them turning their form around in town. Wigan Sunderland could be interesting.

How big would this game be on Tuesday if we'd won on Saturday. A win putting us 3 points closer to Peterborough and Hull as this is 1 of our games in hand on both of 'em.

I guess that's where the draw could benefit us now, if the players were eyeing up automatic games would have a bit more of a "must win" feel to them. Now we can go out and play our football, knowing we have to pick up results but it isn't essential to win every game from our current position - pressure is off them somewhat as we're in a great position to secure the play-offs, and that is pretty much all we can do now.

Seems Sunderland fans are resigning to the play-offs after their loss. We might set the record for most competitive fixtures against the same team in the shortest timeframe if we get them in the play-off semi-final!

Let’s get back on track with a win, keep us firmly in the playoffs. It Lolita automatic is out of the question unless we keep winning and posh or hull have a catastrophic loss of form. Just concentrate on our own game and don’t worry about everyone else.

At the other end of the table what a massive game for Rochdale.

That is Definately a must win game, Defeat and they are all but down.
We play them next week.

We are in the driving seat so really we only need to worry about ourselves. Good point on Saturday against a team who probably felt their backs were against the wall.

A different challenge tomorrow but Accy will also have their backs against the wall too after a drubbing.

Control what we can control and we'll be in those 3-6 places. We're the most feared team in the league right now. That's for sure.

Does anyone know which players have been missing for Accy , during their poor run & more importantly are any of them possibly back to face us tomorrow?

It's that stage of the season when you get some odd results. Most weeks there are 1 or 2 shocks, it is vital we are not one tomorrow. If we can go into the Sunderland game with another 3 points on the board it will be set-up perfectly, even better still if they drop points at Wigan!!

I can’t see them dropping points at Wigan tbh. But ya never know anything can happen in this game

There is 3 different groups in the top half now:

Group 1: Automatic chasers - Hull, Peterborough & Sunderland

Group 2: Playoff chasers: Portsmouth, Blackpool, Lincoln, Charlton, Ipswich

Group 3: Drinking in the last chance saloon: Oxford, Gillingham, Doncaster, Accrington

Group 1, breathing space from the chasing pack. One will go into the playoffs absolutely gutted.

Group 2, I think 3 out of 5 are making the playoffs. Group 3 need to win EVERY GAME and hope group 2 teams go on major bad runs.

For my money I think the playoff 4 will be Sunderland, Blackpool, Charlton and Pompey

Good summary.

The fact that Posh's next two games are at home to Northampton and Gillingham means they'll have promotion sewn up well before we play Sunderland a second time.

A win on Saturday would have put us on 66 points, a win tonight would put us on 69 - 7 points off them with a game in hand. Win that game in hand and we're 4 points off them, going into the end of the season stranger things have happened.

It was unlikely anyway as it would have meant us winning all of our games pretty much, but a win on Saturday would have got the fires fuelled going into this one knowing we could close 3 more points on the gap. I've mentioned similar on other threads, but it could have done us a favour as we know early on automatic is too far away - a win on Saturday would have still kept the hopes alive.

Gillingham and Northampton won't be definite wins either, we know more than anyone P'Boro are beatable.
