Time to admit we got this one wrong and get shut either on loan or preferably permanent...he cant even get past Antwi in the squad now and the number is up along with Howe and Thorniley...Woodburn can also go back and maybe Gabriel too if he is allowed. I bet Gabriel is amazed he cannot dislodge Olly Turton.

Critch, “can’t use him” it’s been said. Can’t get in shape.

BM signed him for Critch, it hasn’t worked out.

I think he ll actually move in summer to hide some of the embarrassment.

Apart from the two against WBA...
The first he should have had a word from Maxwell, so imo good defending get it out no papping about in the box.
The second, its unfortunate that he didn't have the reactions of a hooded cobra in the fact the ball was fizzled at him from two yards and couldn't get his arm out the way. But then again how many players do you see jump without using their arms?

Can't understand the 'get at Turton ' posts particularly on a match day

I think we need better, that's all.

Some transfers work out, some don't.
No manager has a 100% hit rate on transfers or anywhere even close to that; look at some of the crap Sir Alex Ferguson brought in over the years at United.
I agree. But usually these signings at least have some time in the first team and don’t perform. The lad has barely played at all. Terrible business

Very much behind the club but there’s been some very strange decisions in terms of recruitment. Nuttall, Sarkic, Thorniley, Howe, Rocky Bushiri. Yes they don’t have a crystal ball and some signings don’t work out but the common theme with these lads bar nuttall is you could count their league starts on one hand. To sign players for them to rot on the bench for months doesn’t make sense

There are a few players that we signed that could definitely do with a loan out to build their confidence and see what they're all about whilst getting more game time. Also allows us to bring players in..

We don't know what kind of deal he was brought here on, he might be on a low wage/high bonus prove himself contract, and he may have only ever brought in to be a squad player.
All of those you mention except Sarkic were signed before Critch arrived, so I'm not really fussed about them, it isn't my money and we lacked any kind of direction. SS has backed Critch and will continue to, he will understand that some players won't be a success and some will.
Sarkic has never looked remotely fit and even somewhat overweight for a professional footballer; if he isnt in Critch's plans he'll be out of the door in the summer at the latest.

I'm not amazed as Turton is the better defender
If you analyse goals conceded, how many are down to Turts?
I think very few so he must be doing something right, I know you are not a fan of him but is he really as bad as you make out?
just because he is crap going forward it doesn't make him a good defender.

a liability again today

Eleven players on the payroll in some format through until at least the end of June and who aren't having any effect on games here and are either out on loan with a wage contribution or here and being blanked. Only one of those inherited and with an admin error meant he had to be retained for a further year: Devitt / Feeney / Garrity / Hardie / Howe / MacDonald / Nuttall / Sarkic / Thorniley / Williams / Yussuf

SS has created and filled a Head of Football Operations role since the last window closed. And hopefully part of the remit is to try to regain control of all this churn and stockpiling. Or else it'll become an even more expensive hobby in the current climate just to tread water.

I'd say most of this happened last January by not acting before the window opened to resolve whatever issues were being caused behind the scenes with Grayson after the CEO appointment and wanting to change the coaching structure.

if you think about it today feeney would have been a perfect option for the second half. or even as a starter on the right, and hes capable in the defensive role as well. Sarkic looked really good pre-season but not really done anything when he has come on. Macdonald i always thought was decent.

hardie might even suit the way we play now, Nuttal could even do a job from the bench.

He isn't crap going forward though is he?
As far as being a liability, wtf was Ekpateta doing allowing their forward to get the ball back to their scorer?

Oh sorry 'big' Marve is a fans favourite and exonerated from any bile some want to spout

Recruitment has been a right dog's breakfast under Mansford, Johnson & Critchley.

Here we go again, how can anybody think Turton is a good defender after today?
wilks made him look Sunday league.
Tad too harsh in my view
Wilks is Championship level and did not get it all his own way.
I really think we are deflecting from the real issue which is we do not score enough goals and that has turned the focus on our defense
