New vaccine.

Well if Germany give it the thumbs up or even the great sue them if wrong democracy of the USA it’s good enough for me.

So what happened to the Oxford vaccine? I know trials were halted after someone fell ill, but I thought they had restarted after they found the person in question hadn't been given the vaccine.

I shall definately be having it ASAP.

I suspect we'll hear from them within the next few weeks, if anything I might suggest that Pfizer have jumped the gun slightly for market reasons.

That is my guess too - this announcement looks rushed and is thin on detail.
I am expecting to hear reports from one or more of the other two candidates in the next few days / weeks. They were all saying expect to hear the results of stage 3 in late November / early December. The trial can only be unblinded (i.e. the results revealed to the experimenters) when a percentage of the subjects have become infected - looks like the threshold in the German study was 94.

I wasn’t allowed to say anything until today, but it's now okay for me to share that I volunteered for the Covid-19 vaccine trials that a local Hospital are running in partnership with Pfizer. It's important that we all do our part to beat this virus.
The vaccine I have been given is the one that has been developed in Russia. I received my first dose this morning 06:20 am, and I wanted to let you all know that it’s completely safe, with иo side effects whatsoeveя, and that I feelshκι я чувю себя немного стрно и я думю, что вытл осные уши. чувству себя немго страо.

They certainly seem to have jumped the gun with their announced of the vaccine`s success before the final stages of the trials have been completed unlike others including our Oxford version and so far details including the age range tested are missing.

Whilst it is certainly very encouraging it seems probable that the motivation to be first and make another fortune may have been the priority rather than first completing all the required stages of the necessary trials.

Unfortunately you`ve been given Novichok as you will shortly discover.

I can see the logic in giving first lot to the over 80s just in case.....but giving to the health workers ? They must be confident it works and in there trials....? 😎

Mass inoculation of the health professionals must be based on some certainty otherwise it really will be self service.

Was quite fascinated by the science behind this, likely to lead to fewer side effects. It isn't using whole dead, attenuated or similar virus, but messenger RNA to get the cell to produce the spike protein itself, inside the cell. This may also help with longevity as the spike protein appears to mutate at a lower rate than some of the rest of the virus.
It would be good to get a vaccine that lasts much longer than current flu vaccines.

One of the downsides of the approach though is that the vaccine needs to be stored at -80C, which is going to be a major challenge for countries like us and something that is likely out of reach for much of the wider world.

Stored at -80 ???
Does that mean I have to sit and wait for it to defrost?
I could have it with a G & T instead.

Just seen that there's going to be a slight delay before the vaccine becomes available....
Seems Bill Gates needs an extra few weeks to get the tracking Microchips added.....🤔
