Thanks for the time to read my post and some good replies.
Let me make my own thoughts clear. I wanted Ollie when SS took over but he went for Grayson, I wanted Evo when he potted Grayson but we got Critch. So that's where my heart lay at those particular times.
I also think we made a terrible mistake by not going all out to sign Charlie this Summer. With an inexperienced manager and a mindset for young players, Charlie would have been the leader we need on and off the pitch, he would have controlled games and the young players would have a role model to to look up to and learn from.
I couldn't give two shits about NC's coaching badges, that means absolutely fuck all when it gets nasty on the pitch. So I am supporting him because he is here and SS has put his faith in him. I think the team is unbalanced as Phil and I have agreed on several times, we have too many full back and wide men, I have no idea why or how that happened. The whole football side of the club looks a bit like Nursery kids being put in charge of the country, the clubs needs some hard nosed football nouse in its ranks, I don't think we have anyone at the club who understands league 1 and lower league football apart from some of the players.
I understand the calls for an experienced guy alongside Critch, I think it would be a great idea but I don't see him being in favour of that and if SS pushes for it we may not have to worry about keeping him as coach, he could leave with his nose out of joint if that happened.
I say give him 2 seasons, because he is going to take time to get this right, if he ever does. That's my head talking. My heart says he has 3 or 4 more games and if things don't improve on the pitch and we don't start winning some games I think there is mileage in SS having enough and having a showdown with him. He will be more patient than we are, although he is a supporter like us with zero experience of running a football club. It's a blooming shame Sir Jimmy isn't still with us as his advice would be invaluable now.
I hear what everyone is saying. I keep having mixed thoughts about it but one thing is constant, I am delighted the Stains have gone and that we have SS but I am not sure NC is the man to lead us onwards even though I think he needs a proper chance and I am really think we lack some real experience at the club and some ex players who could be involved.
I have no idea who I would want as manager if we needed a new one, I still think we should have gone Evo when we could have. Too late now though. It's all a bit of a shitter really. Frustrating, infuriating, still hopeful, glad in so many ways but still feeling a bit empty inside in relation to the football.
Edit to add.... Do I see him being the manager in 2 seasons? Nah, I see him gone by December if this carries on but I am still with him!!
