Looked like footballers and not a bad word was said by me about them that's for sure.Ryan Hardy and Owen Dale
Avftt always likes a scapegoat and always will. It’s such a shame he is being targeted by some fans.
He has been with us for nearly 4 years and part of our promotion winning side.
He has had some great moments notably the 4th goal against Nobbers.
Just hope he regains the form we all know he is capable of.
Ryan Hardy and Owen Dale were targeted by a few and look at them now.
They would get more change than the little girl did for her chocolate.
I do but you'd have to question the parenting. Allowing a small child to go into a shop alone with no money in order to try and blag some chocolate.Love that advert
Yeah but the Preston goal.I don't think we can just close our eyes and be blinkered to how bad he has been of late.
I genuinely can't remember one good thing he did on Saturday.
He wasn't a major part in our promotion. He played a small part but found himself not in the starting 11 at the end of the season.Amazing how a player that has represented us for 4 seasons, helped us win promotion, retain Championship status and score a goal against the Nobbers, gets the abuse he does. His form has dipped but his assist/goal statistics this season have been good. Compare them to any of the other wingbacks at our club and he's streets ahead. Then remember he's being played as a wingback which is hardly his strength. He deserves a little more respect.
Me too, makes me smile every timeLove that advert
To be fare he did have a bad game on Saturday ,but he even gets targeted when he sets up the winning goal and if the ref had done his job would have got the oppositions goalie sent off.I don't think we can just close our eyes and be blinkered to how bad he has been of late.

So the issue is squad depth and recruitment, the fact he's playing means others aren't doing enough. Gabriel for instance, he's been poor and barely contributed anything in an attacking sense. I can list a few of our squad who have been incredibly poor this season, yet CJ is the easy target. Fair enough his current form is shocking but our fans weren't complaining when he was scoring or assisting pretty much every game before his new contract. He wasn't a major part in our promotion. He played a small part but found himself not in the starting 11 at the end of the season.
He wasn't a major part in us avoiding relegation either. He scored 2 goals in 24 games and mostly from the bench.
He was a major part in us getting relegated playing 39 games and scoring 1 goals and only 4 assists.
When someone who isn't good enough, plays as many games as CJ does, you struggle for consistency. 1 good game in 9 or more games isn't good enough. His average games are 4 or 5 out of 10 and his "good" games are 6 or 7 out of 10.
The FIRST thing I care about when someone wears a BFC shirt is committment and I've seen CJ bottle enough headers/tackles to last a lifetime.
I've seen him retain the ball on average around 50-60% of the time, that means when a BFC player passes to him, he loses it 40-50% of the time every game. This isn't him running at full backs, this is poor touches consistently.
Stop making him out to be a player he isn't. Whether he is at left wing back, right wing back, central defence. He lacks the CORE basics of being a footballer and that is not okay and a large reason why we struggled last season and we are struggling this season.
I can tell you now that Gabriel hasn't played as badly as CJ has. Yet one has been ripped from the starting 11 and the other hasn't.So the issue is squad depth and recruitment, the fact he's playing means others aren't doing enough. Well we disagree, Gabriel runs about a bit and is a better defender but from an attacking point of view he's not really cut it. His delivery/finishing has been poor, as his stats back up. To say CJ shouldn't be in the squad is laughable, who would you replace him with, Connolly?I can tell you now that Gabriel hasn't played as badly as CJ has. Our formation and the fact we allowed Dale to leave and Apter to leave is why we aren't in the top 6. A braver manager would easily have us there.
CJ shouldn't be in the squad, let alone the team. He's getting away from sub 5 out of 10 performances every single game. One rank average cross to an above average header doesn't mean anything.
Completely agree with you. Gabriel has failed to cement his place as he offers very little attacking threat. If we played 4-4-2 it would suit his game better but CJ is a better option as wing back.Well we disagree, Gabriel runs about a bit and is a better defender but from an attacking point of view he's not really cut it. One is a footballer and the other is a sprinter (even that's questionable atm).Well we disagree, Gabriel runs about a bit and is a better defender but from an attacking point of view he's not really cut it. I don't think his form has dipped. His current form is his normal level. It's the four or five games a season where he raises his level that you seem to think is normal.Amazing how a player that has represented us for 4 seasons, helped us win promotion, retain Championship status and score a goal against the Nobbers, gets the abuse he does. I think you''d have a valid point except that the way Critchley sets his team up you'd think it would be the better defender that should be playing. And you acknowledge that Gabriel is the better defender. And let's face it, Critchleys teams don't go out with the intent to attack and build up sustained pressure on our opponents.Well we disagree, Gabriel runs about a bit and is a better defender but from an attacking point of view he's not really cut it. Possibly but we seem to have more issues scoring than we do keeping clean sheets, so I'd argue a more attacking threat is actually needed. No matter how poor CJ was, his pace makes up for other failings he has. I'd also wager most teams would prefer us to play Gabriel over CJ.I think you''d have a valid point except that the way Critchley sets his team up you'd think it would be the better defender that should be playing. Having a touch.Just out of curiosity what are the CORE basics of being a footballer?
ReallyHaving a touch.
Being able to pass 5 yards.
Being able to win a 50/50 tackle. Winning a 75/25 tackle.
Being able to head the ball.
Core fundamentals he doesn't have.
As a forward/winger an opponent would rather face Hamilton tha Gabriel though. And not that long back that people on here were saying we were up there with the leading scorers in the league but that has rapidly dropped off. Of course his pace is frightening for an opponent but there we differ. For me, his pace doesn't make up for his other failings. He regularly puts the ball out of play with his crosses, he more often than not does not get his cross pass the first man. His touch can be that bad that twice in the last few games when receiving the ball he's knocked it out of play himself. His sole attribute is his pace and for me at L1 level that's not good enough. His pace is only good enough to go past his man on the outside but there is little or no end product because more often than not he has to check back on to his favoured foot. But yep, Critchley if he is gonna play him should at least do it as just a winger and also do it on his favoured side- the left. So in that respect it's not all down to CJ.Possibly but we seem to have more issues scoring than we do keeping clean sheets, so I'd argue a more attacking threat is actually needed. No matter how poor CJ was, his pace makes up for other failings he has. I'd also wager most teams would prefer us to play Gabriel over CJ.
the only player who has a chant? What do you mean? Ekpiteta,Gabriel, Lavery, Grimshaw all have chants.Ironically he's the only player who has a chant! Lose him and we'd have to go back to singing about your Dad's your Mum (which nowadays is entirely viable!).
