Thanks for everything Dan
Trusty has played league football for HartlepoolOnly 20 signed for the future,I see no problem with this.
He’s already attracted interest from a conference club unlike the rest of the kids we have who struggle to attract interest from conference sides or above, bar Robbie Apter of course.
ahhhh yesanyone else?Trusty has played league football for Hartlepool
ahhhh yesanyone else?
Brad Holmes playing tomight from the start .Alex Lankshear played 10 minutes for Dorking Wanderers in August. Not sure what happened to him after that.
I have mentioned this a few times and touched on the subject only yesterday on the Dobbie thread, including a mention of Dan Sassi who, along with Finnigan, played for the Dev Squad this week. (Finnigan scored)Seen a few comments on FB questioning this but it makes sense for people we have to develop either in the dev squad or a loan, depending on what is best for them at that stage.
People saying we haven't seen much benefit yet from the youth, I feel we are building and let's be fair, it took a while to get the pieces in place, get it all setup and moving. It's still not in it's final form anyway.
But we have Apter now showing good things only a level below us and the very nature of the youth setup means it will take time for the conveyor belt to be moving with the players we want on it at all various stages.
Given what we had before SS arrived, it's vastly better now and with covid slowing things down it would always take a few years to see anything coming out the other side.
I feel we are not far off now seeing some benefits, although you'll always get some who don't make it, promising youngsters don't always fulfil their potential, but some do.
Obviously there's various levels, where you can get quite young ones or ones like Sassi who are far closer to the end of the development process.
Maybe @Insider can add some thoughts on our setup, how things are progressing and how far off we might be from having a few more break out ready for league football?
We're adding more all the time aren't we? Who was that big lad recently?
He returned played a couple of games for the Dev Squad but is currently injured.Alex Lankshear played 10 minutes for Dorking Wanderers in August. Not sure what happened to him after that.
Owen Moffatt is also at Dunfermline. He came on in the 2nd half of tonights game.I honestly can’t think of any,I may be wrong.forgot about Tayt.
Edit to add Holmes went to Dunfermline also.
I do hope we haven't been deceived by perspective and signed a 4 foot 6 'big lad'...As for the "big lad" I think you might be referring to Takudzwa Gwanzura who did look very big in the photo on twitter (it might have been slightly deceptive)
Hopefully without a recall clause. Can we send Critchley out on loan?
Had a clean sheet in his first full 90 minutes the other day.Blackpool defender Dan Sassi has extended his stay at Rochdale until the end of the season, having initially joined the non-league outfit on loan, the club have officially confirmed.
The young central defender moved to Bloomfield Road during the winter transfer window from Burnley for an undisclosed fee, having failed to make a first-team appearance for last season’s Championship champions, although he was an unused sub for the Clarets last season in a 1-0 win over Fleetwood Town in the FA Cup.
Isn't it Dobbie in charge of the non existent youth coming through? Can we send Critchley out on loan?
He has only played two full games for them, both in central midfield. The rest of the time he has been an unused substitute, or has come on very late in the game!Had a clean sheet in his first full 90 minutes the other day.
Yes. Dobbie prepares them for their non-league loan and eventual release.Isn't it Dobbie in charge of the non existent youth coming through?
Sounds like Rochdale fans also like to simplify footballers into definitive "great" and "rubbish" boxes, without any context like ages or position being played, just like many of our fans do!Few comments on the Rochdale forum .. doesn't sound the best!!

On iplayer, there is usually a Scottish Championship game on a Friday night. I watched Dunfermline v Dundee Utd last week, cracking game! Dunfermline were like 70s Ajax on the break and beat the leaders 3-1.Owen Moffatt is also at Dunfermline. He came on in the 2nd half of tonights game.
There must have been a mix up. What the hell are we doing sending our players to a team that plays that style of football. On iplayer, there is usually a Scottish Championship game on a Friday night.
