Yes, saw it, spun his man on a ball over the top.It was so nearly good yesterday.
I don't know if you have seen Rob Apter's goal from yesterday yet, he's looking very direct, and Tranmere's 2nd was on og deflection from an Apter cross as well, very Alfie Mayesque.
Dembele was excellent yestreday but he does run out of steam and I'd love to see him job share with Rob.
Not sure why Dale wasn't in the squad, it must have been illness or injury.
I'd still like to see Pennington at RCB and probably Gabriel ahead of CJ with the latter as an impact sub.
And as for Jordan Rhodes he just desperately needs a goal. Early season the deflection of his backside would have gone in. Yesterday he sent it wide.
I really need to wash my mouth out but I think we could do with an upgrade on Hubby. I don't for one minute think replacing Hubby with a better leftie would be easy but I just think he's slowed down a touch.Yes, saw it, spun his man on a ball over the top.
Agree with all that. Casey/Hamilton didn't look at all as effective as Husband/Coulson.
I've been saying he's looking tired for weeks. Impacting on the quality of his delivery.I really need to wash my mouth out but I think we could do with an upgrade on Hubby. I don't for one minute think replacing Hubby with a better leftie would be easy but I just think he's slowed down a touch.
Virtually every game he has the most touches so with that responsibility you need your "bestest" player. Of course we could swap that responsbilty (yesterday Albie had one more touch than him) but with Coulson now in front of him I think the pairing is more safe than dynamic.
Yesterday the stats were
Hubby
Touches 94
Passes 38/52
Coulson
Touches 47
Passes 21/28
On the other side
Casey
Touches
75
Passes
35/55
CJ
Touches 38
Passes 10/23
Lies, damn lies and statistics but 2 important combinations we need to get right.
All IMO of course.
I think lots of fans realise that. We all love Hubby and he's been a great asset to the team. More than anything he needs a rest and so does CJ.I've been saying he's looking tired for weeks. Impacting on the quality of his delivery.
I thought he did pretty well yesterday. He won a load of corners and linked well with Coulson. I'd agree that over last month he has looked knackered.I think lots of fans realise that. We all love Hubby and he's been a great asset to the team. More than anything he needs a rest and so does CJ.
Our left side was way more effective than our right yesterday. My biggest concern was that we couldn't get back on it after the setback of the OG. As you hint, the subs were late and a bit uninspired. I'm afraid once again the manager was slow to read the way things were going. The way they were time-wasting we needed a good 30 minutes of something different. We were unlucky though, no question.Yes, saw it, spun his man on a ball over the top.

I don't disagree about Hubby's lung bursting runs to overlap Coulson and his pass success rate was way ahead of CJs. What I thought yesterday was he was too ponderous distributing the ball when he was the back man, for example, when it came to him from Grimmy.I thought he did pretty well yesterday. I'd love to know how many corners Hubby has won us this year. His overlapping is very pragmatic and he tends to whip it if it's on or make sure he gets a corner if there's any doubt.
Casey I think struggles a bit more with the overlapping game. He looks better in the middle but despite all his chaos, I like Marv there.

God forbid me saying this but Ollie Turton was good at this, looking up, putting the ball over the top of the opposition FB for CJ in space to run on to. Nobody has used CJ like that since.
Hubby is playing centre half AND winger. No wonder he's knackered.I thought he did pretty well yesterday. He won a load of corners and linked well with Coulson. I'd agree that over last month he has looked knackered.

CJ unquestionably had one of his poorer games yesterday but like we both agree Casey isn't suited to the RCB role so CJ wasn't well supported. Here's a stat.
We put 9 crosses in from the left (Hubby 5, Coulson 4) and 1 (CJ 1, Casey 0) from the right.
We're on it from the start. There's several 'Pool's this season. At one end of the scale there is 'hopeless and lethargic Pool that bang it aimlessly at the box and look a bit fed up' and at the other is 'clever, aggressive Pool who look like a decent Championship team and go at the other team with invention and intent' and we've clearly got out the right side of the bed today.
